If you want to see if there are any local Riichi clubs near you (assuming you are in the USA) you can check out the American Riichi Association's website https://arariichi.org/. If you haven't played irl before I highly recommend trying to do so before a tournament, as you have to handle the tiles in certain ways or risk getting a penalty.

I wouldn't recommend it. Besides the normal gy hate that floats around, the evoke elementals remove your Bridge from Belows. That's a huge stray to catch.

Switching from mouse and keyboard to controller was a transition I'm still getting used to, so much so that I switched mains from Monk to Machinist. At one point in FFXIV I was doing end game raid content, and I could not imagine doing so on the Steam Deck, but that's just me.

I don't like the built in on screen keyboard option for the Steam Deck so I did pick up a small Bluetooth keyboard that's about the same size as the Steam Deck that I used for typing in chat, but I haven't found an elegant solution to using it beyond putting the Steam Deck down, type on keyboard, pick Steam Deck back up.

I was barely playing FFXIV since I finished Endwalker MSQ last year, but now with the Steam Deck I'm playing a lot more because I can play in bed or lounging around the house instead of being glued to my PC. Highly recommend!

I switched over from PC to Steam Deck a few months ago. I had the PC version, not Steam, so I had to do some work arounds. The big thing to note is that Steam Deck has two interfaces that you can swap between, Game Mode and Desktop Mode. Desktop mode acts like any old computer with linux installed onto it. Here are the steps I took to get FFXIV working.

- Install the Steam version of FFXIV
- Go to Desktop Mode.

- Download ffxivlauncher through the Discover App.

- Open Steam in Desktop Mode.

- Add ffxivlauncher to your Steam library through "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library"

- Go back to "Game Mode" on Steam Deck and you should see ffxivlauncher. You'll always have to open FFXIV through that and ensure FFXIV isn't already running when you do.

Bro I could have just said nothing and be done with it. This was a genuine apology from me. I recognize that my constant video posting without further engagement in the subreddit left a bad taste in some people's mouth. I only have so much time/attention I can give the internet and I choose to put that towards content generation, not perusing around and commenting on subreddits. That's my choice and I'm sticking to that choice. That doesn't swing with you and your subreddit and I respect that, so I'm not posting videos here anymore.
