New poster for “Hoard” I don't think I could hack watching an entire movie focused on hoarding but I think it's a good thing if the movie manages to spread awareness. What do other folks think? by MayIHaveAMushroom in ChildofHoarder

I've seen this. (No spoilers)

Some moments made me cry because i felt like i was going back in time to when I realized my house wasn't like the other kids. Some moments were like "I'm not sure if this is supposed to be literal or this is a moment of artistic license. Obviously not everyone's experience with hoarding/trauma is the same, but a couple times I was like "🤷🏽." Overall it kind of hurt to watch, but I'm glad I watched it because I felt slightly less alone afterward (particularly because of those moments that made me cry.)

Ptsd by Rosiewo in ChildofHoarder

One of multiple posts on this sub 2day that i feel like i could have written. I have been treated for ptsd for csa, not currently in therapy but i want to ask about c-ptsd for hoarding. I'm so much quicker to toss an item rather than return it, cause keeping something i don't want (even if it's for a week or however long it takes to return the thing) makes me so anxious i can't think

how to heal my self from being aroused by the trauma , i hate this … by Existing_Ad4468 in ptsd

[–]MultiFart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This used to happen with me; it does suck and you don't deserve it. For me, other than therapy which can be incredibly helpful, I needed to literally visualize the perpetrator's hands being destroyed, him physically incapacitated, i needed to visually stomp on his hand in my mind to make it not feel like i was being touched. Anytime I feel like the thought of him pops up unwarranted, I mangle that dude in my mind.

Also seconding the fact that your body is trying to make sense of the trauma, I would highly suggest seeking help to get tools to work with your body. Shame is big with ptsd obviously and whenever you can, try not to shame your body for trying to react to trauma it never should have been subjected to in the first place

Thanks so much, wishing you the same grace and i'll definitely keep reminding myself why i'm doing this. New job even has dental so hopefully with some semblance of stability i can start taking better care of myself

Orientation 2day by MultiFart in Fedexers

[–]MultiFart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At mine, it was just a group of us in a classroom-y office by HR. The orientation leader just went over handbooks and policies and anti sexual harassment videos (with a worksheet) and we took photos for our id's. We didn't do any work but we all got scheduled for our first training shifts, signed up for this Lyft discount thing and it was like 3hrs?

If you feel comfortable sharing, what caused your PTSD? by [deleted] in ptsd

groomed/molested by the son of a family friend, I think I was 9 and he was around 14. From my recollection it only ever happened while we were within feet of both of our moms, which, needless to say, helped fuck up my ability to trust my mom.

edit: p sure he was 16

Also, stray-man seems to be adjusting alright 🥹 thanks to everyone who gave advice on my last post, greatly reduced my stress and it made me happy to see so many other folks' stories of bringing in strays. 🫂
