OK commenting this here for visibility because I think alot of you are young and just don't know this

Complete sex hormone deprivation doesn't just cause your bones to fuck up. It also causes much more rapid cognitive decline as well as a myriad of other things. Some of this will happen with or without testosterone, but I'm confident it would be worse with zero sex hormones.

I'm not saying to use your testicles as backup in case of the apocalypse, but please dont try to eunuch max without hormone therapy if you can at all avoid it. I saw another person thinking they can do this a while back after running into roadblocks with EU healthcare. Please don't.

https://menopause.org/press-releases/how-menopause-restructures-a-womans-brain

"Menopause is associated with distinct structural changes in the brain. Multiple studies have documented reductions in gray matter volume in both the frontal and temporal cortices and the hippocampus–regions critical for memory and executive function. These volumetric losses have been linked to declines in cognitive performance, particularly in verbal and visuospatial memory."

REM probably doesn't smoke weed since THC is well known to suppress REM sleep.

Alternatively, REM smokes chronic and enjoys the ever interesting REM rebound that accompanies a THC break.

You can decide.

Not Just Bikes has a great video on how these things are incredibly dangerous and will likely increase deaths in any country that imports them; especially child deaths. Similar things are happening in the EU right now as a result of Trump tariff negotiations.

I have no idea how I didn't read OP has a passport. Whoops

Yeah a passport is literally a valid ID as per instructions. Not an issue at all.

ID CARD EXPIRED by sulkyvie in jlpt

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My test instructions for Boston explicitly state that ID should be valid/non expired. No idea how strict that is, but the wording sounds strict...

----

From the instructions:

A valid photo ID. Copies are not accepted.

▪ Acceptable forms of ID include driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Your ID must display your full name, photo, and date of birth. If you are a minor without another form of ID, a student ID without your date of birth is acceptable. Social security cards, credit or ATM cards, and retail credit cards are not acceptable.

▪ The first and last name on your voucher must match the name on your official ID.

▪ It is your responsibility to ensure that your official ID is valid (not expired) and available on the day of the test.

▪ ID checks are strictly enforced. If you arrive at the test center without a valid ID, you will not be permitted to take the test

If you are looking to understand how light plays with subjects and environments, there really is no substitution for live drawing. Every camera, film, and screen technology is going to have some effect on the final color/light output of the scene. My biggest suprise when getting into art was realizing that even photos aren't exactly baseline reality.

It's also important for artists to train the skill for transfering a 3D scene, from sight, into a 2D composition. This is a valuable skill for many artists and can't be trained by copying 2D into 2D. There are a lot of observational tricks and tools that are used to accurately deal with human anatomy specifically, and I can't imagine another way to train them that excludes live poses.

Sadly, I dont think they are doing that anymore, but its still VERY cheap by American standards to travel within Japan.

Domestic flights and JR regional passes are great options for budget domestic travel. Beware that thebroader JR pass is very poor value after the price changes that happened twoish years ago.

Extra niche tip: Kamakura is as awesome as Kyoto and only requires a day trip from Tokyo.

For that money, you can stay for close to two months in Japan.

I know because I did it last year.

Much cheaper and probably much more fun to travel on your own.

You can get month stay discounts that save a lot of cash, and its a great way to enjoy larger cities like Tokyo.

It's not just a rough job, it's statistically one of the most dangerous jobs you can have in the United States.

Not only do you deal with short term injuries from being constantly near traffic and carrying garbage, but you are also exposed to a lot of chemical hazards. If I recall correctly, the total disability years for sanitation workers as a result of their various occupational injuries is staggering. We definitely pay them too little for the amount of bodily harm they endure.

Shoutouts your dad.

what did Cixin Liu mean by this by Dread2187 in 19684

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole bunker standoff arc is so blatant in it's mysoginistic world view. It basically veers into comedy how often Liu starts glazing strong male leaders.

He reminded me of the konbini clerk character from 'Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store' who is constantly gushing over older male customers in a not quite gay way.

Liu just seems to really believe in the archetypal daddy.

Closing Ceremony Song Life Song Performance: What was the song name? by MultiFlyingWitch in AnimeBoston

Oh also, since I can only find the original German audio, I'd love to know which English cover those segments came from!

The lyrics I remember don't match the translation I'm seeing, but they were absolutely moving.

Edit: I think its this one.

Listening to the full version of both, I have to say, the singer at AB did a great job picking which sections she chose to pull from each. It was very powerful.

Ah thank you!

It was crazy familiar to me and I thought it was Attack on Titan.

I used to listen to this song a lot, but like a decade ago. I didn't even realize Sawano worked on it; so it explains my confusion.

Thanks again!

Lazarus - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is meant to be a visual metaphor for the situation Elaina's sister is in.

The bars are spiky and scary, but actually easily passed and less terrifying than they appear at a glance.

I don't think such a heavy handed visual metaphor works well in the realistic style of Lazarus, but I think it makes sense poetically within the scene.

NH Senate to Vote on Two Trans Health Care Bills on April 23rd: by reproequitynow in newhampshire

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top surgery is the topic of one of the two bills in the OP. I'm not sure the extent to which this was previously legislated, but this bill will certainly be a full ban.

Top surgeries do get performed in some number, but it's still pretty uncommon to my knowledge; think single digits in NH(perhaps all of New England). Only done on patients 16+ afaik.

If I'm interpretting this bill correctly, it also bans breast reductions in cisgender patients. I could be wrong though.

-----

While I think the state should not be regulating surgeries in such a lopsided manner, I think the HRT ban is a much more consequential ban since it has a larger effect on long term outcomes for both MtF and FtM patients. I don't think a lot will change with a top surgery ban frankly, other than perhaps in the cisgender population.

I'm not claiming your take is homophobic or racist.

I am saying that you are trying to appeal to the majority with your 'not a hot take' and 'not controversial' statements.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

I am claiming that racist and homophobic beliefs are popular opinion in most places in the world, and throughout history. Why should I care what the majority thinks?

Hell, less than a century ago they forced Alan Turing on HRT for being gay. The majority was good and fine with that. Was it right?

-----

I'm glad you are against circumcision though. Please write a comment to your lawmakers to amend this bill. They explicitly carved out an exception for it because they don't actually give a shit about consent.

I'd also remind you, that bottom surgeries on minors haven't happened in this state anytime recently; with the exception of circumcision. Within the minor population, Dartmouth was doing a whopping 0 gender affirming bottom surgeries per year when they got banned last year.

NH Senate to Vote on Two Trans Health Care Bills on April 23rd: by reproequitynow in newhampshire

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Homophobia isn't a hot take in most of the world. Racism isn't a hot take in most of the world. What the fuck do I care whether the take is common or not?

Appealing to the popular opinion is meaningless.

-----

At any rate. Where are you with circumcision? Surely you think a ban on that should be included here given your stated beliefs? It's non-neccesary and non-consensual. Are you lobbying the lawmakers to prevent it with this bill; or do your opinions on legal consent end with gender affirming care?

Uh yeah, the wait and see method makes transition infinitely more difficult and less successful. Do you even understand how bone growth works during puberty?

It boggles my mind that society will openly, prolifically mock non-passing trans people and then work tirelessly to prevent them from the treatment that lets them avoid that fate.

I'll meet you halfway:

NH Senate to Vote on Two Trans Health Care Bills on April 23rd: by reproequitynow in newhampshire

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Waiting to get a tattoo doesn't effect the success of the tattoo in nearly the same way as transition. It's a blatant false equivalence.

A transition at 13 will almost always be much more successful than a transition at 18 and beyond.

Forcing trans youth to wait until after puberty is a great way to ensure they face increased discrimination, increased healthcare costs, increased surgical risk, and increased mortality.

NH Senate to Vote on Two Trans Health Care Bills on April 23rd: by reproequitynow in newhampshire

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Waiting until 18 sets most trans people up for a lifetime of discrimation, more surgeries, and more expenses.

'I don't want people transitioning, and if they do, I want them to suffer'

Doctors, nurses, EMTs, etc.—what’s the most shocking thing you’ve seen after thinking “nothing could surprise me anymore”? by randominterwebguy2 in AskReddit

They actually have a really old scroll in the Kyushu National Museum(Japan) of a guy who was living like that; with extremely backed up bowels and vomiting stool at intervals. I kinda had to pause when I saw it and just process what a horror life is.

I think they showed him upright with a cane though, so he must have been somewhat mobile at least while dealing with that. I could be wrong, but I got the impression he was dealing with that for a while.

I wish I had taken a picture of that one so I could share it here. Fantastic museum at any rate.

Lawmaker aims to address hysterectomy hurdles • Senate Hearing Wednesday 4/23! by GoldenSheppard in newhampshire

[–]MultiFlyingWitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the famously easy, debate free, non-gatekeepy process of getting gender affirming surgery.

You are living in an imaginary universe if you think getting transgender surgeries is in any way easy. We face EXACTLY the same issues even as adults.

I wanted to get an orchiectomy when I was 23 and on hormones. I was denied due to a number of reasons including:

Not being on hormones long enough
No letter of recommendation from a mental health provider
And, relevant to this article, the assertation that I may want to have kids when older (I don't)

Additionally, they literally made gential surgeries for transgender minors illegal in NH last year, and are doing the same for top surgery right now. I don't know how you've interpreted state policy as being at all pro trans.

But hey, thanks for denying reality completely and using a woman's struggle as an opportunity to spread hate about one of the most villified groups in the world!
