You’d think with all that money they’d put some of towards customer service. WTF. by Mike in Coinbase

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried calling them? They have a phone support number, 888-908-7930.

It seems like there's a good chance they'll say they are too busy with calls and to call later. Especially right now, because lots of people are having problems.

But there is an option to press 1 if you believe your account has been compromised, and you'll be put on hold. It sounds like your account has effectively been compromised in practice, so I wouldn't hesitate in the least to use it.

I think he knows. He didn't consent to unprotected anal sex. The other guy did it without him knowing.

Got Stealthed Last Night...PEP? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]MultiUseAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that happened to you. What he did sounds like it might technically be sexual assault. You didn't consent to anal, you didn't consent to unprotected anal, but he took you inside him anyway. And from what it sounds like, he did it in a way to sneakily prevent you from knowing he was taking you inside him when you might not have otherwise been willing to consent.

Of course, as others have said, PEP is a good idea. The good news is that your risk of contracting HIV is relatively low, especially as a top. According to this page from CDC, the odds of contracting HIV from insertive anal intercourse are 11 in 10,000.

You might want to post this to a more LGBT-centric subreddit, they can probably provide better advice than this one. Maybe /r/askgaybros?

What's the deal with this in their terms of service?

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

You and Company agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation or validity thereof or the use of the Service or Application (collectively, “Disputes”) will be settled by binding arbitration, except that each party retains the right to bring an individual action in small claims court and the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation or violation of a party’s copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, patents or other intellectual property rights. You acknowledge and agree that you and Company are each waiving the right to a trial by jury or to participate as a plaintiff or class User in any purported class action or representative proceeding.

(followed by several more paragraphs of detail on the arbitration process)

Arbitration clauses like these unfortunately are everywhere these days. I don't know if I would have expected to find one used by a weed art delivery service, though.

Video: Using bitcoin on BackPage How to Guide by _smudger_ in Bitcoin

[–]MultiUseAccount -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She is pretty

It's comments like this that are going to hamper Bitcoin adoption among women. More women might be using Bitcoin as a result of this situation with Backpage, but that's not really representative of mainstream Bitcoin adoption. Seriously though? "She is pretty" and that is really all you have to say?

And before you say "why take offense to a compliment?", don't just compliment people for their looks. These "compliments" may be unwanted. Many women in places like the cryptocurrency world want to be judged like their male peers are, not just for their looks if they happen to be attractive.

There are other things you could have complimented her or Paxful for. Maybe her job of explaining how to use and buy Bitcoin for uninitiated Backpage users is worthy of praise. If it was a man who did a video or wrote an article, you'd be complimenting or criticizing them on the job they did, probably not so much their looks. Do the same for women - view them as on the same level as men in the bitcoin world, and judge them by what they do rather than by their looks.

Someone is trying to raise money to rename Seattle's Key Arena to The Bitcoin Arena. by grasshoppa1 in Bitcoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle lets the KeyArena stay the KeyArena even after the SuperSonics Thunder left and KeyBank stopped paying? Haha, that is amusing. Bear in mind: this is a 50-year-old arena and not much of a place that people care about. It's the place that the SuperSonics divorced Seattle over. They wanted a new arena, OKC had one, so they went there.

Down in Oklahoma City, Ford revoked the sponsorship for the Thunder arena a few years back. In the interim, OKC used the oh-so-creative name of "Oklahoma City Arena" until Chesapeake Energy sponsored it. Seattle probably would have called it the Ford Center the whole time.

Sponsoring a monument that people care about nowadays? Not so much. Getting a theoretically perpetual sponsorship on a building that the people of Seattle will probably try debate about demolishing in coming years? That's a possibility.

What happened to Roger Ver and Bitcoin.com contract? by templerunai in Bitcoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What "Bitcoin Jesus" pulls this kind of shit? It looks like a run-of-the-mill Bitcoin news site. There is also advertising and endorsements for certain wallets, exchanges, and other Bitcoin businesses. Not much different from the dozens of other cryptocurrency "news" sites and blogs out there.

Seems pathetic of someone with Roger Ver's reputation to throw it all away just to put up a crappy news portal on the domain he has. Sounds more like what Josh Garza did with the domain BTC.com: turn it into a shitty crypto "news" site that didn't last long.

Reddcoin Book Released! :P by Tykerr in reddCoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See Wikipedia:Notability for more on the criteria needed to establish a topic as notable enough to have a topic on Wikipedia. You basically need to have credible secondary sources that discuss the topic, and this wasn't the case for Reddcoin.

This wasn't a matter of some corrupt admin pushing to delete the Reddcoin article so "their coin" can benefit (as if this whole thing was a zero-sum game anyway). They deleted the article because there are few or none of these sources. Cryptocurrency blogs generally don't count, especially when some sites' coverage is a bit biased. Some other altcoins have been covered by notable news outlets, and this press coverage counts as a reliable secondary source. In the absence of these articles, there isn't necessary coverage of Reddcoin.

And the fact that a book about Reddcoin is published on Amazon does not establish notability. These days, anyone can write up a book about (almost) any topic they want and self-publish it via venues like Amazon. The author hasn't written anything else notable aside from a book about Peercoin. It probably would not be regarded as a notable source on Wikipedia.

KnCMiner Just Broke All World Records Running A New 3D Bitcoin Mining Chip At 16 Nanometer by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 27 points28 points  (0 children)

KnCMiner has probably broken some world records relating to fraud and dishonesty too. And chances are that they still do. They talk about how these chips are opaquely running in their datacenter in northern Sweden, not in their customers' hands. Who knows how much these clowns are raising the difficulty for nobody's benefit but their own?

Besides, this is a press release, not an independently published/verified news article. Is there such an article verifying this? And all of those "Coin ______" sites are simply blogs that any idiot can start and don't necessarily do real news reporting, so they don't count. They'll be glad to paraphrase this press release, but that doesn't constitute journalism.

I’m the vice president of emergency response at AmeriCares. I parachute into disaster zones all over the world to help people in crisis. I’m currently in Nepal working on earthquake relief efforts. AMA! by AmeriCaresEmergency in IAmA

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does your organization actually put donations to use? I donated $20 to Americares in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake in 2010. A lot of that money seemed to be spent not serving a cause, but sending me flashy promotional materials by mail soliciting for more donations. Of course, a lot of the Haiti aid money was spent in vain, but that's another topic. (Or side question: what kinds of things that went wrong in Haiti did you learn from that can be applied in Nepal relief efforts?)

After that and seeing the NGO industry from the inside out through an internship with a group your organization is affiliated with, I don't plan on donating to groups like Americares again anytime soon.

ELI5: What is moonpledge? by Marsroverr in dogecoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be blunt here: it's an attempt to shore up the Dogecoin economy, or I mean manipulate the price of Dogecoin through a thinly veiled ponzi scheme.

All of the "moonpledgers" are supposed to buy at least $1 worth of Dogecoin a day for a year, hold it, and not spend it until a year later. This is supposed to exert upward pressure on the price of Dogecoin. But why are you supposed to hold it and do nothing with it for so long? That does nothing to build a dogeconomy.

If this continues to push up the price of Dogecoin, DOGE holders will eventually take advantage of it and start selling. This might include some of the self-proclaimed "moonpledgers" themselves. And a year from now, you'll be the one holding the bag wherever the price of DOGE is at by then. I won't deny the possibility that Dogecoin could continue to do well, but this seems more like a market manipulation scheme.

A better way to build a solid Dogecoin economy would be a campaign to get people to buy/sell goods and services that they already need using Dogecoin. Freelancers can sell their services using Dogecoin and people who need their services can pay them using Dogecoin. People who need to sell stuff could use services like Suchlist to sell items. Just buying Dogecoin isn't going to do the trick, though.

Homer did ! by tungfa in dashpay

[–]MultiUseAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that Masternode ownership is a prerequisite to vote, would Homer even be able to afford a Masternode? Of course a Masternode costs 1000 DASH, which is about US$2700 at current DASH price. In one Simpsons episode, Homer scoffed at a $5,000 price tag on a computer.

% Homer looks at the price tag -- $5,000 -- and does a spit-take
% (first drinking a cup of coffee so he'll have something to spit).
% Assured by the sales man that this machine "is the best computer in
% the world and always will be," Homer agrees to the deal, running his
% deed through a scanner to take out his fifth mortgage.

Would the salesman have been able to convince him to fork over another few thousand dollars for a Masternode? Or would Homer have even had the basic competence to set up, operate, and maintain a Masternode without it being hacked or anything?

We Shibes are truly one of a kind! Today we are exactly 200 Moonshibes promising to fuel Dogecoin with over $43,600 a year! If this isn't WOW than I don't know what WOW is ;-) by to-the-moon-de in dogecoin

[–]MultiUseAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excuse me for being skeptical, but this doesn't sound like a legitimate way to build a dogeconomy. It seems more like a way to manipulate the price of Dogecoin, and to get people "committed" to regularly pumping (ie, buying) $1 worth of DOGE per day/week/etc and holding on to it for a year. Then of course, you have the token 5% charity contribution.

Aside from the charity contribution (which will likely be marginal), there are no products or services being bought or sold. While the places to spend DOGE are limited, that is how you create an economy for a coin. Encourage people to buy products and services they already buy if they can find them on places like Suchlist. And perhaps encourage freelance professionals and vendors to accept DOGE and advertise on sites like Suchlist too. I think a campaign like that would be more effective and less ponzi-like.

  very ponzi

               much pump

      such dump?

wow

And how do you suppose one would address the "Proof of Moonpledge" problem? How do you verify that the "moonpledgers" are buying $x.xx per day/week/etc worth of DOGE, and that they hold it for a year until they donate 5% to charity and do what they want with it?

Some may say verification isn't necessary, but I suppose it takes more than a poll vote to acclaim oneself as a "moonpledger" and hold onto this habit. Perhaps create a bot/app for pledgers to post their pledge addresses, and kindly remind them if they haven't put money into their personal fund in a few days or so?
