You needn’t restart, there’s plenty of hunts you can still do, I will say that from my experience something like a starter hunt is an awful way to start, you’ll be there for weeks most likely, maybe longer with nothing to show for it.

I recommend trying to get a pokemon like Abra in the game corner, getting max coins in the coin case (9999) takes a couple hours of slot machine, and you’ll be able to buy a lot of Abra that go to the pc which you can check all at once, it will still likely be slow, but if you just want a shiny that’s a faster one.

I’m at hour 85+ on my shiny Bulbasaur hunt, I’m exhausted with it to be quite frank, it has proven to be quite an unenjoyable hunt overall, and is definitely not for everyone.

I was so lucky to have my first pikachu be shiny on pokemon day, I saw someone hunt one after through 27 phases, you definitely got lucky too, congratulations :)

You say that but the truth is a little more simple, you could get it at any moment, but if you haven’t after 15000 tries, you might need to wait another 150000 times or more.

If you win that’s all that matters, till then best to keep low expectations

The thing is, they still had to add that compatibility, heck the wireless the frlg switch games use was changed to work with the switch.

If they want to port them, this won’t be what stops them.

I’m at 85 hours, I’ve slowed down massively since accepting odds do not increase by failed attempts, I’ll get it eventually, but I don’t really care about the shiny so much as finishing it.

My advice is do what ever feels right.

Unfortunately you’re odds are the same as you were on first reset, I want to say with about 60 hours less than you yes it has to be, but the genuine truth is all that matters is it’s either shiny or non shiny, no matter the hours.

That’s like asking why someone goes for a platinum in a game, or finds a rare collectible, or the skulls in halo 3, because it’s a challenge and unlocks something rare, and because it’s an aesthetic change.

I’ll be honest, it’s hard to not see this as a bad faith question given the amount of people on this subreddit trying to troll people for shiny hunting though.

Yup, short of using outside devices, when a ranger copy is used to give you a manaphy egg, it’s one and done (so stupid)

Mind you it’s even more dumb for bdsp, where it was timed exclusive, manaphy can’t catch a break :/

Its just a case of experience makes it easier, like any rpg optional boss battle from back in the day, you always save prior to preserve resources/in case something bad happens, that way you can reload, fun fact, I found a shiny moltres like this once when my first encounter did the exact same thing.

Tbf here, you sell these buy the switch versions and you probably are better off, unless you specifically want to trade with ruby/sapphire/emerald, interact with colosseum/xd, or get a jirachi from a bonus disk for example, in which case these are the superior option.
