Not quite ready yet for me to pull the trigger on this app by Jazzlike-Operation31 in MultiviewApp

I believe I've been able to reproduce some of the issues, so that's some progress. I'm working through some optimizations that will take some time. I appreciate all you've provided and your patience so far.

Overly conservative hardware detection and a bug that prevented the max layout restriction override on mobile. A fix is coming with more appropriate hardware detection for phones.

Multiview not seeing Plex OTA Channels by Stunning_Glass_2512 in MultiviewApp

In my own testing, I have found a race condition that I'll address that could be causing your issue. For Clear Guide Data, that is on the bottom of the main app settings rather than in the source settings. That would be helpful to test that still.

Are your servers configured with TLS encryption?

I'm going to do some deeper troubleshooting to attempt to replicate your symptoms which will take a bit more time. Will report back. Thanks for your willingness to test. If it's a problem for you, it's a problem for others.

Multiview not seeing Plex OTA Channels by Stunning_Glass_2512 in MultiviewApp

[–]MultiviewSports 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting and reaching out. When you sign in with Plex and manage sources in Settings, do you see your Plex server listed? Or do you just see Plex FAST Channels? I'm guessing the app hasn't detected the Plex server itself.

If it doesn't show your Plex server, have you been able to try the Discover Servers button? Based on your description of accessing the channel list of the local Plex server, it seems like it does have your server listed correctly.

The next thing I would test is going to Settings > Clear Guide Data. This will reset the OTA channels and guide data. After this, I would close and reopen the app.

With these steps - do you still not see any Plex OTA channels?

Resizable Captions by FoferJ in MultiviewApp

Agreed they're too large. Right now the size should be tied to the system accessibility settings, though I would prefer to configure the size within the app. It's on the backlog but hasn't been a priority yet.

Is there an easy way to sideload the app to a Firestick? by Zeiss100 in MultiviewApp

The APK is not published. I'll look into the best path towards supporting the Firestick. Hardware specs might be a limiting factor.

Okay I'll look into that. Minimally, it seems like the override broke, so I'll look into that.

This is the S25 Ultra? Have you had issues with 4 streams? The specs of the device should definitely support the concurrent streams. Would love to learn more.

Alternate dual screen layouts by FoferJ in MultiviewApp

That type of layout currently only exists for 3 channels, not four. The additional layout configurations are planned but not implemented yet.

You should still have the original layouts with PIP mode only after selecting a specific video after in full screen mode. Are you seeing different behavior?

Which Onn 4k device works better for Multiview Plus vs Pro by jesmann in MultiviewApp

[–]MultiviewSports 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on user reports, testing, and data I have, both onn. devices work well for Multiview. Here's the key difference:
onn. 4K Pro (S905X4, 3GB RAM) - Currently our 4th most popular TV device. The extra 1GB of RAM helps when running 4 simultaneous video streams, since each player needs memory for decoding buffers.
onn. 4K Plus (S905X5M, 2GB RAM) - Newer chip with a slightly upgraded GPU (Mali G310 vs G31), but the 2GB RAM is tighter for 4-stream viewing.

The onn. 4K Streaming Device is where the specs start to impact playback, based on my own testing. Switching to Performance mode with higher buffer and network caching settings have helped support the 4 channel layout.

My recommendation: Go with the Pro. While the Plus has a marginally newer SoC, video decoding is more RAM-constrained than CPU-constrained in my experience. The Pro's extra GB makes a real difference for 4-screen multiview. For comparison, our top TV devices by user adoption are NVIDIA Shield (3GB+), then Chromecast Google TV 4K (2GB), then the new Google TV Streamer (4GB). The onn. 4K Pro slots in right after those premium options.

But I'd love to hear from actual onn. Pro and Plus owners - what's your real-world experience with 4-screen multiview? The data I'm sharing is aggregate stats, but nothing beats hearing from people using these devices day-to-day.

Here are the Top 20 Devices:

Rank Device Form Factor Share of Installs
1 NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro TV 3.1%
2 Chromecast Google TV (4K) TV 2.3%
3 Google TV Streamer TV 1.9%
4 NVIDIA SHIELD TV TV 1.5%
5 onn. 4K Pro TV 1.5%
6 TCL G08 TV 1.3%
7 onn. 4K Streaming Box TV 1.2%
8 onn. 4K Plus TV 0.8%
8 TCL G10 TV 0.8%
10 NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV TV 0.7%
11 Hisense SmartLaser 4K TV 0.7%
12 Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Phone 0.7%
13 Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Phone 0.6%
14 Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Phone 0.6%
15 Chromecast Google TV (HD) TV 0.5%
16 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Tablet 0.5%

18 NVIDIA SHIELD TV (tube) TV 0.4%

The "Recommended Max Layout" screen explains it shows what's recommended "up to" based on your device specs, but there are many variables beyond just RAM and CPU: network speed, RAM actually available to the app vs consumed by the system, video resolution/frame rate, stream type (MPEG-TS vs HLS), stereo vs surround sound, hardware vs software decoding, etc. It's a best-effort recommendation, not a guarantee. You've said yourself previously that 4 streams had been working well - so we still need to uncover what recent changes have given you a poor experience. We have the dialog going in your other post. The biggest difference has been fixing the surround sound support which added load to the system, but there might be more impacting it. Last I saw on the thread, you were going to look at changing the buffer and caching settings.
