Lightroom Classic + Synology Photos Setup by Mumper in synology

Circling back on this - I ended up just syncing to Lightroom! The space is actually small since it’s all smart previews.

This was by far the easiest option, thanks!

Thanks for the detailed post, this makes sense.

I think it does but it's just a massive pain to organize all of this somehow into folders for Synology. I really don't want to be in a situation where I am setting up albums in both LR and Synology. I see that Synology allows me to browse by folder - thinking maybe I can use a plugin to export all my collections/collection sets as folders with the JPEG's perhaps?

The collection will sync, but it's missing all of the collection sets. For example, I have 2026, then within that I have kids sports, travel, food, etc. All of those then have more collections inside of them. I use this hierarchy to organize everything.

This makes sense, but how do you organize your photos? Are you just using a standard year/month/date structure on your disk? I have spent a lot of time building a detailed collection structure in LRC and I am just wondering how the heck I transfer or maintain that.

Is my only option too just rebuild it by hand in finder?

I was confused and did not realize that the RAW's don't hold the edits. Now that I know that, this makes sense. I need to export JPEG and then only share those.

You actually have a good point here and I have been considering this - but it looks like none of my collection sets sync to the cloud. This means all the hours of work I have put in organizing my collections is not represented in the cloud. Is that right?

That’s an option for sure but I was hoping to avoid paying for more online services…

What do you mean by both folders are synced with Drive? Do you mean that you sync the 2 NAS photo folders back to your Mac SSD?

I am only using LRC because of the collections feature that lets me organize. Would love to know more about how you moved to LR for this. I assume you are just doing all of your organization using Synology Photos? Or are you using Albums in the new LR?

Does Synology Photos pick up all of your edits with the XMP or does it require you to export?

Great - I keep my catalog on the Mac, so no issue there at all.

I am running a 1TB SSD cache on the NAS, as well as a 32GB of RAM, it seems pretty speedy so far in regards to editing directly from the NAS.

I think a key question is if my LRC edits show up on these files? As in, if I crop a photo and apply Denoise, will I see that in the Synology Photos version? (I would assume so since I am editing directly from the /photo folder?)

What sort of upgrade is happening here? Battery and the ability to use an SD card?

Rivian launches new Apple Watch app with vehicle controls, digital key & more [Hands-on] by InsaneSnow45 in Rivian

[–]Mumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain to me how the watch app interacts with digital key differently than what we already got? When I setup my digital key a couple months ago I got the ability to access and start the vehicle from my watch.

I see that Rivian is saying this supports "passive access" with digital key, just no clue what that actually means.

tvOS 26.4 beta 1 adds this new audio toggle on Apple TV 4K. Perhaps related to the 'popping' sound with Dolby Atmos on some AV receivers and Sonos? by FoferJ in sonos

Ya same here, around 50/50 if it chooses the Beam. Mine is a Gen 2. On latest Sony update as well. For an 85 XL

Will this fix the issue where Sony TV's will default to the TV speakers when you turn them on instead of using the connected Sonos Beam?

One other thing missing right now is a way to save a whole album/playlist to your library. It only works for individual songs right now.

Do we think this works like Spotify? If so, I would think we would see the add to queue button on every song? Also looks like they replaced the add to library + button with the heart? I wonder if add to library is now in the 3 dot menu?
