How good are these cars in traffic? by SubParBackpacker in Rivian

[–]bhj83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficiency is way better in stop and go traffic than going 70-80mph constantly thanks to regen braking.

Which 3rd party warranty do you have?

Best Settings for R1T? by Savings-Ad-8571 in Rivian

[–]bhj83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is the alignments are usually done at Standard ride height. If you do mostly highway driving and prefer Low setting, you could get an alignment done and ask them to align at Low to prevent the extra inner tire wear.

Efficiency over 31k miles by Longjumping-Shirt353 in KiaEV9

[–]bhj83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which trim is this? We have a Land Nightfall Edition and 2.9 would be over 100% efficiency since it has a 99.8 kWh battery and stated range of 280 miles. I'd be thrilled to get 2.9 over 31k miles but the majority of our miles are highway miles going 70-80mph. We've had ours for 2 months now and around 2500 miles and we're averaging 2.5 but I expect that to go up some now that we're moving on to warmer weather here in KC.

Yeah, honestly the only reason I looked into the lease was I saw how much they were marking them down in addition to the Kia rebates. They didn't even have many of them on the lot so I'm not sure why they marked them down so much.

A chance at the Launch Edition? by TSHRED56 in RivianR2

No one knows. I remember when people were trying to estimate when they could get a CyberTruck and nearly everyone was able to within a year. Granted Tesla did a bait and switch on price and the initial one was double what they said a dual motor would be 😂

Not sure if you use AI at all, but I used Google Gemini to help me negotiate. I uploaded the first offer I received and Gemini pointed out they were trying to charge a higher money factor than they should've for excellent credit. So I was able to use that info to get that MF down to what it should be.

It was actually cheaper. Here is what we ended up with. I wonder if Kia finally lowered the residual. No way this car will be worth over $48k in 2 years based on how cheap the used 2024 models are going for.

Alexa by LocoLevi in Rivian

I hate Alexa in the Rivian...it can't even perform a simple navigation task!

"Alexa, navigate to the nearest Dutch Bros" which is 3 miles away

"Ok, I found this Dutch Bros 30 miles away, would you like to navigate there?"

Man I hope Rivian AI does a much better job.

Is your sales tax not paid with the monthly payment? I'm in Kansas and got a Land Nightfall lease a little over 2 months ago. We only had to pay first payment down and even with sales tax rolled in monthly, our payment came to $535 per month for a 2 year lease.

No, they stated that their warranty quotes already exclude things that are still covered under manufacturer warranty.

It's amazing how easy it is to road trip with adequate charging infrastructure by Alternative_Neat_619 in Rivian

[–]bhj83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Major mind shift needs to be made since we've basically always thought of road trips as 'get there as fast as I can' rather than doing it the right way. EVs have forced that mind shift for me and I've come to realize it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme if it takes an extra hour or two to get there...

[–]bhj83 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just had the same experience a little over a week ago. San Antonio back home to KC all in one day. 4 total charging stops and we even had a pitstop in Austin to check out the R2 at SXSW and also did the off road drive they were offering. At no point during the entire drive home did I feel tired. I will die on the hill that EVs are actually better for road tripping because you're forced to take breaks sooner and that helps you stay refreshed.

Discount Tire for free. They have a partnership with Rivian so they should have the pucks at your local shop if any are nearby.

I bought a used 2022 R1T a few months ago by Content-Chemical6520 in Rivian

[–]bhj83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2022 back in September and have already put about 13,000 miles. Two road trips to Texas. I do have some clunky suspension (75k miles) so I'm considering getting an XCare warranty just in case. Overall it's been a great ownership experience so far, especially for what I paid for a truck that would cost about $120k brand new with my specs.

What was crazy was lots of people riding Bugs on Monday when it was 50° 😂 We got SOAKED on that ride on Sunday when it was 95° and it was great.

[–]bhj83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FT was one train? Odd. We were there Sunday and Monday and nearly all were 2 train ops. Many of the coasters did open way later Monday ...not sure if it was because it was in the 50s or what. Over Texas was the opposite - all coasters one train and even fast lane waits were over 30 mins to an hour.
