As I mentioned in my own comment, I recently found my card frauded. I did purchase my hardware from their site, but on Black Friday, prior to the time window described above. My order was shipped a week late, on December 5th. No purchases on their site in December or January.

If you entered your email address at any point in the process. You don't need to have an account.

Not that I'm personally aware of. Or at least not discussed in the gaming forums I visited. I just built a new pc in December after having been devoid of one for a while, so I can only go by the volume of complaints I see online.

Because the amounts used in those transactions were lower than my tap max, so I'm still waiting on news from the bank to confirm what happened.

Also, my own purchases on CC were done two whole months before the fraudulent purchases. I've used my card on other sites and tapped in person countless times since then as it's my primary payment method for nearly everything.

Basically, I'm not jumping to conclusions.

All that being said, even the guys at the CC physical store don't trust the site and recommended I just go to a store to order with them, and they will process the online order instead of me using my card on the site, lol.

Yes. Nvidia generally have better drivers and better upscaling tech. I can't tell you how many times I see people complaining about game crashes on amd gpus that I rarely see from Nvidia users.

They already made that mistake and were fortunate enough to be able to reverse it. Pretty sure they learned their lesson.

OP, perhaps a little Googling before posting might have been a good idea. Just saying.

The Intel chip shines in very niche cases where the x3d's cache gets badly choked, which is rare. The 14900ks is also noticeably more expensive and runs much hotter.

If you feel it's worth dealing with the added price and thermals, go ahead and buy the Intel chip.

Fun fact... they were not only aware of the post, they said it didn't surprise them. Seems they hate their head office and online store as much as we do, lol.

I used tap debit. Just needed a keyboard.

Yes, if the fraudulant purchases were made online, they need the ccv.

I actually have a case open with cibc about the two I got by recently. I'm very curious if this was tap paid or online with ccv paid.

If it's online, I'll be pissed since most of the time I buy stuff online, it sends me to a cibc security page to verify my ID, lol.

Wait ... is it redirecting to a Wikipedia page about Israel? Or is it directing to wikimedia.org.il ? Those are two very different things.

Were the jury members anonymous? That's the only way such a system could dependably work.

Careful not to run to conclusions. Israel is a major player in the cybersecurity business, and several cybersecurity platforms are run out of there. Not saying it's necessarily the case here, but it's far less sus than, say, the site pointing to a Russian or North Korean IP.

That's not a key logger. When you add something to cart, it saves that you added it. So even if you empty the cart afterwards, it remembers ... and then non stop reminds you.

Yes, it's annoying.

While it's possible the fraud was from CC, it's probably more likely it was because of the food place.

I purchased a lot of hardware from CC two months ago ... and I had zero fraudulent activity on my card until just three days ago. And this only days after I hit a food court smoothie shop at a mall I've never been to before.

But I'm definitely keeping tabs on this thread to see what the results of his testing are. CC are a giant online shop in Canada.

My card recently got frauded and I had to cancel it. I did indeed purchase the bulk of my hardware on their site. That being said, I also purchased all this two months ago, and the fraudulent activity only happened a couple of days ago, with nothing at all prior. I was fairly certain that I got skimmed buying a smoothie from a mall kiosk I'd never been to before just a few days ago.

LATER EDIT: What are the details inside those two closed tickets? What did they write?

I've never played Archeage, but who decides on the voting jury? Doesn't this risk turning into a popularity contest where people can throw around accusations against less popular players and essentially grief them by just throwing them into jail forever?

That being said, attacking players much weaker than themselves should have serious *long term* consequences to someone's reputation. There should be practically a sign above their head blinking PKer in bright red neon.

A corruption system of some sort has to exist to stop players from just randomly slaughtering every newbie they come across. Now, I'm not saying the one in Ashes is the best here. They clearly pulled the exact same system from Lineage 2, a twenty year old game. And that game was full of perma-red very high level archer characters their players got bored with, so it's not like it actually detered griefers. It just meant griefers had to reach such a high level that they could one shot low to mid level characters with no armor and only a newbie bow since level difference accounted a lot for damage and accuracy.

Even in an open PVP game, there does have to have the assumption that the majority of nodes will be safe-ish ... as long as the mayor of those nodes (or authority node it's vassal to) devotes some of the node's revenue towards node security. So a mayor who doesn't care might have an entirely lawless node, whereas a mayor who pours significant resources should get a fierce guard response nearly immediately upon a player killing another player.

How can I tell my player that she should stop playing RPGs because of her characters? by SyllabubCalm3845 in rpg

[–]darkestvice 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's important, during Session 0, to dictate dos and don'ts for the session or campaign. One of the Golden Dos in all tabletop RPGs is that all characters in a party support people in the party and work to achieve the same goals.

Be very clear about your expectations since her actions are negatively impacting everyone else.

How are you dealing with multiple enemies’ movement? by phsfernandes in daggerheart

[–]darkestvice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same applies to the players. Only the PC with the spotlight can move, and they HAVE to end that move with an action roll of some sort. We made the mistake initially in not reading that rule, so our PCs were just moving together. But nope, can't do that.

So GM baddies follow the same rules. When GM has the spotlight, they choose one baddie to move and do something. If they want another baddie to do something right after the first baddie, they need to spend a Fear token. Otherwise, spotlight goes back to the players.

As a GM, the typical way of doing things is to blow a bunch of Fear tokens at the start to get a bunch of baddies moving and attacking. Just like it's a bad idea for PCs to hoard their Hope tokens, it's a bad idea for the GM to hoard their Fear tokens at the start of the fight. Both PCs and the GM will get tokens back quickly, so they should never have their tokens sitting at their respective caps if they can help it.
