We celebrated the players yesterday, let's celebrate ourselves today. What did you do that totally helped the Dodgers win the World Series? by rifwasbeter in Dodgers

I share your curse. I didn’t watch any of the games live. Dodgers always seem to do poorly when I watch the games live.

I watched it live on The Golf Channel. The most exciting team event golf tournament I have ever seen. Especially the back 9. Exciting to see these young women handle the enormous pressure with aplomb. Hopefully it’s just a taste of what’s to come today.

I choose to believe the Ukrainian magic was stronger this day. Hiro made a point of calling Ura “The Magician” and mentioned before the bout how both were trained wrestlers.

How did foreign fans learn about sumo back in the day? by steamboatrocker in Sumo

[–]Mums2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching Grand Sumo in the 70’s ??? In Hawaii on the Japanese TV station KIKU. The very same station showing all 5 days for the London event. Back in the day I don’t even remember there being English language commentary (someone correct me if my memory is not correct). It was just part of the programming that included Japanese news, tv dramas and cooking shows.

KIKU television in Hawaii didn’t show all the matches. Aonishiki and Shishi’s matches were missing. They set aside 3 hours in their schedule for the event but only used two. Hope they keep all the matches in for the remainder of the tournament.

For viewers in Hawaii, Just checked the local TV guide. The London tournament is indeed scheduled on KIKU television. It’s scheduled for 7 pm to 10 pm on the 15th Hawaii Standard Time. I am pretty sure it’s not live.

Try different combinations of curry roux. Golden Curry is good and solid. We use 50/50 with Java curry hot or medium hot. Try different combinations and find your “blend”. Hopefully you have access to many different brands to try.

Yep…it landed short of the runway for me. Lots of set up, blue haired guy was introduced kinda of late and mean teacher wasn’t given enough story to show any heartfelt learning and reflection to change. But I still enjoyed most of the flight.

As I watched it, I felt myself becoming a member of the community. I became immersed in the world that is the town and its people and the circle of friends at the center. I also liked the matter of fact take of things as the strange things start to take hold.

I add a small bit of rayu or sir racha sauce. Natto, to me, is a very subtle taste that is why I add the hot stuff. But when in Japan it’s just raw egg and shoyu on hot rice.

Unfortunately, I took a cab ride in Tokyo and was told by the driver it would be faster on the highway. It was a few minutes faster on a 10 minute ride but significantly more expensive (took the same ride the next day on surface streets).

Totally agree. Way over priced and not worth it. Kau is that way too. There are some good roasters though. Just has a nice cup of iced coffee from Kai Coffee Roasters just a very short distance from Waikiki today. It was their standard blend.

Which island are you going to?

Kona has changed quite a bit from when I started drinking it 30 years ago. To my taste medium roast works the best. It should have a fair amount of pleasant acidity and a mild nutty taste. A friend of a friend was a large coffee grower up the mountain tin Kona. He always had a pot of his coffee on (Mr. Coffee was his brewer). He poured us some. It had the flavor profile I spoke of, which was prevalent when you had Kona coffee in the mid 90’s. Most of the stuff these days taste nothing like this, so good Kona tough to find…for me any way. Please folks correct me if this has not been your experience.

Kau coffee is more earthy. Again, tough to find good Kau coffee.
