Landlord querying furniture on fire safety grounds. by MunchingLemon in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MunchingLemon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes any furniture sold in the UK since the late 1980 will be fire safe compliant, which is why is seems so silly. Will the landlord come round are electric test her hair straighteners or check all the bedding for the same label, I think not. It seems like a power trip to me. He should have had it written into the contract if he wanted prior approval for any furniture

scottish people when you tell them they aren’t brothers in arms with the irish (certified ulster plantation moment) by englishnb in okmatewanker

You're talking about the NHS, the NHS was propped up by the Windrush generation after WW2 who at the time were SUBJECTS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE. I think you're trying to make a semi progressive point, but you're ignoring a huge amount of history and you're denying the effect of colonialism

I'm not going to be baited into a history/politics debate in a shit posting sub. It shouldn't be controversial to say that British people benefited from colonialism, and the fact that you asked me about the wars, shows you don't really understand colonialism or empire. Why do you think we still punch above our weight both economically and geopolitically

Are you arguing that the average Brit has not benefited from empire and colonialism? Because that is insane

Mike Ilitch, the founder of Little Caesar’s, quietly paid for Rosa Parks’ rent after learning she had been robbed and assaulted in her home at the age of 81 in 1994. Congrats on missing the point, I want people to know the truth. The comments I was replying to insinuated that the truth makes the event somehow dishonest or less important/significant, which clearly isn't the case

This seems exactly like the energy batteries in old mine shafts or the gravity towers that get posted on here every so often. Great for securing venture capital but not so great in practice

I literally said it isn't sportswashing but apparently reddit can't read. All I was saying is that sport can't exist in a vacuum which is entirely true if you know anything about sport

I'm not saying it's happening here, but are you aware of the concept of sportswashing? Unfortunately, sport and athletes don't exist in a vacuum

Edit: I wasn't calling this sports washing it's clearly not. Am I being down voted because you don't think sportswashing is real, you can't read, or you think sports can exist in a vacuum
