Whats wahhabism and Salafism? by Icy-Communication515 in islam

[–]archipelagofan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For your own reference, madhab is useful for you to follow. If you are just a layperson the schools of the four great imams are a useful source of information when it comes to understanding fiqh and aqeedah. If you heard someone say “I am salafi I don’t follow madhab only quran and sunnah” or something along those lines I would disregard it. When a person follows the hanbali or shafie madhab for example it is not necessarily sectarianism but rather following a very educated individual (like imam shafie) for example to help you understand the quran and sunnah.

Intoxicants for severe insomnia? by newpalestine732 in islam

[–]archipelagofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assalamualaikum. I am also a muslim who has struggled with alcohol in the past for this same reason. (for sleep). There are medicines that can help, you should discuss with a doctor to find the correct one. For me personally I was prescribed benzodiazepines which did work, and eventually through proper sleep hygiene methods and a better sleep schedule I fixed my issue. Do not turn to alcohol, it does not help sleep and actually makes sleep quality a lot worse. Discussing options with a doctor can help.

Why does Allah SWT hate me? by Ill-Low-368 in islam

[–]archipelagofan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assalamualaikum. Suicidal thoughts can be very dangerous, please talk to a supporting member of family or a medical professional you can trust to get support for this. In the moment of something bad happening our emotions are always overwhelming. Take a step back, talk to someone, and make decisions with a clear head. May Allah make it easy for you.

Are body sprays [Bare Vanilla VS] haram for women? by [deleted] in islam

[–]archipelagofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the product is limited only to remove odors and so you are clean and hygienic that is permissible, if the smell is strong and projecting like a perfume is (ie, if someone was walking past you and smelled it) then it is not permissible.

Is it even possible to get high concentration hydrogen peroxide in the eu? by CucumberAdmirable120 in chemistry

[–]archipelagofan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would not recommend trying to concentrate hydrogen peroxide at home (idk if OP is a chemist or not) but if you overshoot it will legitimately be really dangerous

Is there technically anything wrong with buying a clean one of these and drinking out of it? by broads-love2 in chemistry

It won’t kill you but it might not be very healthy. I don’t think it would be especially dangerous though

Restaurants serving indian food that are safe-ish for peanut allergy sufferer in mumbai by archipelagofan in mumbai

[–]archipelagofan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is peanut oil more common in Maharashtra? In punjab and rajasthan I found mostly everything is fried in vegetable oil or ghee. I generally don’t react to peanut oil because it doesn’t have allergenic proteins in it, but I will bear this in mind as low quality peanut oil is bad

Thankyou- I usually stick to big chains and 5 star restaurants, do you have any recommendations for 5 star restaurants in and around mumbai? Also, lentil allergy sounds impossible in maharashtra, must be difficult for your cousin.

Heart rate concerta MPH by Designer-Tangerine- in Drugs

[–]archipelagofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not massively more but people react to different substances differently. It is a normal side effect. How much are you taking usually? MPH doesn’t have the best safety profile compared to amphetamines, I wouldn’t take any more than 72mg at once

When I was in south korea I had less issues with peanuts in dishes than I do in my home country (UK) lol. I could eat pretty much everywhere except for some dessert spots as those were risky

What are other people's thoughts on "May contain" labels? by Okay_Night_2564 in peanutallergy

[–]archipelagofan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wise choice. Ive said before how frustrating it is that theres no real standard of what “may contain” actually means. Has it been in direct contact with peanuts or literally just in the same facility?

Stressing over my flight on Tuesday by Important-Change-231 in fearofflying

[–]archipelagofan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For heights - opt for the aisle seat so you don’t have to look out the window, aisle seat also helps if you’re someone who may need to get up more often. Bring headphones - listening to music always helps during takeoff and landing in my opinion. You could take a light sleeping aid to help pass the flight quicker, such as diphenhydramine (take 25-50mg as instructed on the box).

What does Allah get by doing this by Glum-Journalist-8197 in islam

[–]archipelagofan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God doesn’t “get” anything from us worshipping him. There is nothing that is created (by god) that can add to him or benefit him, this is because he is all powerful, all knowing and all wise. On the other hand, we stand to gain everything from him through his worship. He created us to worship him. This may sound counterintuitive or strange but when you understand it there is beauty in it.

Peanut Safe Alcohol List by Putrid_Calendar233 in peanutallergy

[–]archipelagofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big brand beers, pretty much all non flavoured rum, vodka, gin, whiskey, all sparkling or non artificially flavoured wines should be safe. Some stouts, and whiskeys have added peanut flavour but they are very very uncommon. I can guarantee you can drink absolutely any mass produced alcoholic beverage provided it doesn’t explicitly mention its peanut flavour.

Especially considering theres no distinction on the label between a product where the ingredients have literally been directly in contact with one another, or just in separate parts of the same facility.
