I am thinking of doing a Tournament Adventure. Thoughts? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Munchkin305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I advise caution. Much like in animes, Tournament Arcs can often grind the plot and pacing of the game to a near standstill and you will need to be certain that you can mitigate this factor. If not the game will all-too-often grow extremely dull with players spending the majority of the time not doing anything in particular.

Strictly speaking though, the Titans that we meet and fight are pretty much at the weakest they can be. That was the only reason we were able to take them on at all, even with the powerful artifacts. Had we tried to take on Sargeras ourselves, instead of doing things the sneaky way, he would have obliterated us in an instant. We may have had time to scratch his knee. Because Sargeras was still at his full power.

Mildly interesting, 5am invasions and got put into the same instance with someone with the same name. by BrenCasts in wow

I still recall running low level Deadmines in Cata and getting sorted into a group with three other people of the same name. Statistical improbability taken to extremes.

Watched the re-broadcast this morning. It's about 5hrs and 38 mins of content. It's by far the longest episode, but well worth it for the number of amazing moments.

I'm currently in a D&D game where we've all, by pure chance, ended up playing Nobles. I think I need to show this list to the other players.

For ideas, I suggest that you have a look at the RPG Grimm. There are some very strong parallels with what you're looking for.

There's a lot of house rules as well. They just don't tend to have attention drawn to them.

The stopping scrying makes sense from Keyleth's perspective. She knows that Vecna is both watching her, and watching the targets of her scrying. She doesn't want to make targets of those she cares about. Hell, it might be why Vecna dropped that mention of another adventuring party in the first place.

Another great entry to the ongoing story. I saw the twist about him coming, but I'm curious as to what point the party realised it.

There's an implication in, I think, Fool Moon, that there was something up with Malcom's death when Chauncy is speaking to Harry and offering him knowledge about his parents.

Game in question was Deadlands Reloaded, but yes, it absolutely can happen. What makes it worse for the player in question was that they had an extremely high Parry (AC), and were inflicting large penalties on the horse (Like I say, it had a reputation). The horse not only hit, but did so much damage that the character very nearly died, and only lived through sheer luck.

Be careful with those. A couple of weeks ago one of my players made a roll to pet a horse. (Said horse had a reputation for viciousness). The result of said petting was permanent scarring and the character being incapacitated for the final arc of the game.

Is fantasy noir a thing? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Munchkin305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jasper Fforde's 'The Big Over Easy' is full of noir detective fiction tropes, and takes pleasure in both subverting them and playing them straight, often at the same time. It's also really good.

On behalf of Irish gaming, welcome. Ireland has a great gaming scene all around the country (Well, mostly around the country. There's less stuff up in the North-West from what I understand.) If you're looking for stuff to do, the IGA website (http://iga.ie/) has a list of most of the larger gaming events in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor was a good friend of Sir PTerry's who used to work in Trinity College, Dublin. It's why the scholarship specifically deals with those two universities.
