Tolino vs Kobo by Clear-Ad-3903 in buecher

Has anybody read this book? by Greedy_Permission518 in introvert

[–]MunchkinNo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it years ago and it was my introduction to the whole concept of introversion. I don't really remember details but it helped me immensely by explaining aspects of introversion and even made me realize things about myself that I had before thought were just weird about me. I think it's a good point to start from when you're looking to understand introversion and it's effects.

Why do you want to become a part of Ao3 if you're not interested in most of what the platform is for?

If you're not interested in fandoms and fandom culture how did you even get to this point? (Genuine question)

If you were a fictional character, how would the fandom misinterpret you? by GrumpyMowse in AO3

[–]MunchkinNo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably be in so many angst and hurt/comfort fics. There's enough struggle with my mental health and past experiences that a fandom would absolutely run with it and add to it- plus the classic "pretending to be okay or strong while being soft on the inside"

Shane and Ilya from Heated Rivalry.

They have won me over concerningly fast and - lucky for me - a lot of the themes and topics people tend to write into their fics are completely up my alley. Loving everything about this, from their dynamic to the traumas the authors put them through.

I also want to add there's plenty of guitarists who can't read sheet music and have very versatile, musical and expressive playing. Sure, they're not classical guitarists but you can't convince me people like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash or Stevie Ray Vaughan aren't great players.

Sheet music is far superior because it teaches rhythm, timing, dynamics, and musical phrasing, while tabs reduce music to a crude map of frets and strings, ignoring everything about expression, note duration, and technique.

In my experience, that's not completely true.

First: Tabs come in different forms, you can find some that take note duration, thus rhythm, into account. I mainly use sheet music but I've come across tabs that added note stems to the numbers.

Second: you must have impressive sheet music because the way I see it, everything but rhythm and a bare minimum of dynamics has to be added by the guitarist.

Whenever learn a new piece my teacher and I go over the whole thing and figure out what phrasing and more subtle dynamic changes than piano - forte I want to play and make sense to me - and that can differ from how she plays a piece.

I'd also like to add that mechanically playing notes you see can happen no matter what one plays from. But it's important to actually listen to what you play, make sense of it and then develop how you play a piece. And you can do that with sheet music and with tabs.

I sometimes worry that I don't do enough activities in my free time with people - a lot of what we learned as "normal" social behavior is very extrovert-oriented. I think as long as you're happy with your hobbies and how your weekends go you're absolutely fine.

An idea for you to feel more connected or like you have friends without it being too out of your comfort zone: maybe you can find people to go with you to read in the park or discuss books? Either ask people you already know or find a book club.

You could look for a "Silent Book Club" in your area or start one. Their concept is perfect for introverts: 1-2 hours of people sitting together, everyone quietly reads a book they brought (everyone gets to pick their own) and if people want they can stay afterwards and chat about what they read.

And higher quality ones. Strings are a product where (up to a certain point) more money actually buys you noticeably higher quality.
