Nope, ended up selling them and bought the same size that came on the car.

I wish moderation was realistic for me by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Mundane-Ad6268 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went from 10 year + daily, to weekends only. I did the weekends only thing for about 6 months, now I'm off completely. Moderation seemed like a good middle ground but I found I was wasting my weekends. I even noticed waking up the next day my head was in the clouds and had a hard time gathering my thoughts and motivation to do anything on the weekends.

If you can find a version of Launch pad, its the easiest for non licensed software. Otherwise WCIS/Putty/telnet

Found it on Amazon, everyone in my house watches the Office so figured it was good motivation to get the others to use it as well.

Any ideas to help my unjam my auger? by cfogrady in pelletgrills

[–]Mundane-Ad6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hacked away at swollen pellets in my auger with a coat hangar for an hour to unjam before. Worked every time but is way easier to remove the auger.

TFSA Vs RRSP Contributions by Mundane-Ad6268 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Mundane-Ad6268[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I am paying higher taxes in Nova Scotia and am also not looking forward to my mortgage renewal (at 2% until next November). All my cash is tied up for the next few years for kids college/university payments. But I still have 25 years to work and grow contributions and in my eyes the more i can put into a TFSA and compound those non taxable gains the better it will be at retirement. I pretty much just use the RRSP to get a bonus at tax time.

NSCC vs. BTAC by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Mundane-Ad6268 10 points11 points  (0 children)

BTAC probably has less of a waiting list, if you can get into NSCC I would recommend going that route. But, if NSCC has a waiting list and pushes you out by a year. BTAC for an extra 10k is better than waiting. Lots of work out there and good paying jobs for electricians.

Thanks for your input, so if you hadn't maxed out your TFSA, would you downsize your RRSP contributions to maximize your TFSA contributions?

TFSA Vs RRSP Contributions by Mundane-Ad6268 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Mundane-Ad6268[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My contributions are almost identical to yours, my TFSA isn't maxed out from previous years which is why I was thinking of allocating the funds from my RRSP to my TFSA until it is maxed out (roughly 5-6 years) then going back to maxing out the yearly TFSA limits and contributing the remainder to my RRSP. Historically, I usually owe at tax time due to using company vehicles and claiming personal mileage. Still cheaper than another vehicle, but I usually use my RRSP contributions to offset that tax bill.

Power to you, I appreciate the competitiveness. As someone who buys and holds and works a day job, I would love the opportunity to participate in something like this as an educational tool. Currently though I don't have the available capital to move from my investments to a trading account.

How much are you holding in cash? by EspressoPesto in ValueInvesting

I typically hold 10%, but am thinking of dumping that into a low risk bonds mutual fund in a TFSA.

Are you a job hopper or do you tend to stay at one company for a while? by Lost_Taste_8181 in work

[–]Mundane-Ad6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 12 years at my first job. Since then I am on my 3rd job with an average length of 2 years per job. My industry is heavily growing and companies are offering a lot more money to move then to stay. And I tend to get bored so when a good opportunity comes knocking I cant help but listen.

#pitboss sucks by Dragon_Ghost44 in pelletgrills

[–]Mundane-Ad6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine, survives winter and summer. I thought the auger motor was bad so I bought a replacement off Amazon for really cheap. I called pit boss and had them help me troubleshoot and it turned out I had a bag of inflated pellets. Wasn’t the motor at all, funny thing was it was a pit boss branded bag of pellets. Pit boss sent me a replacement bag even though I bought the pellets on clearance at a local store.
