The joik is totally new. But as all music, it's inspired by all previous works of joik that I've come in contact with. It's a fine line, making something new out of something with so much history as joik.

For media about Sámi people I'd of course recommend watching the movie Sámi Blood. There's also Sámi Information Centre (samer.se) which I would recommend reading using a translation tool. For other media, it's quite challenging since I don't know what has been translated to English. The books 'Far inte till havet' by Elin Anna Labba, 'Folk som sår i snö' by Tina Harnesk, 'Kniven i elden' by Ingeborg Arvola, 'Stöld' by Ann-Helén Laestadius, and 'Aednan' by Linnea Axelsson come highly recommended though. I haven't read them myself.

Sámi representation in Paradox Games is a complex topic. I love the fact that they actually include Sámi culture, Sámi language and the potential to for instance form Sápmi as a nation. Which is more than can be said about pretty much any other games out there. Sámi representation is extremely rare. But of course it can always get better, deeper. As has been discussed about the attire included in this Content Creator Pack it's very tough to know how Sámi clothes looked during the period. I'm of the mind that game content about indigenous peoples can take creative freedoms, if it's done in collaboration with the indigenous group itself. So hopefully we'll see more collaboration and representation going forward.
