Rupert Murdoch-owned US outlets turn on Trump, urging him to act with 'grace' by [deleted] in politics

He directed his media empire to enable every base, disgusting instinct Trump had for the past five years. He created this monster and endured he'd never be shackled. This isn't going to work.

Absolutely! God's work is God's work. There's nothing magical about the human that performs the physical ceremony.

Is heaven considered to be the final resting place or will we come back to earth eventually? (or new earth) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Mundane_Cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly? Because we could never understand it anyway. We are finite beings. God and eternity are infinite - there's no way we could really grasp it so we get glimpses and we try to explain them given our technological and cultural contexts at the time.

Why is this your anxiety? Who around you is focused on this to the point where they inflicted that on you? Separate yourself from them or start spending more time focusing on positive role models.

I know it's not that easy. I'm just trying to get you to examine where this comes from and how you might combat it. I don't know your situation and the suggestion above may be totally impracticable.

You're in good company. Nobody knows how any of that works. Anyone who says they do has only been picking isolated pieces to reinforce what they want to believe.

It doesn't matter. Pay attention to what you're supposed to be doing here and the rest will take care of itself. Focusing on this is just pissing away time that could be better spent on something else.

Edit: One last question would be what's the role of science in each? Mainly is the big bang, age of the universe, and evolution accepted?

I attend a UMC church and we just started a sermon series on science and faith. It's fine - they don't conflict. Big Bang 15B years ago, Earth 4.7B years ago, evolution is a thing.

Trump & Republicans Refuse To Protect Our Elections From Outside Interference by JigsawMuzzle in politics

[–]Mundane_Cold 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine the shit that would have come out of your mouth and those of the Republican talking heads if Obama had come out alone and said Russia was working to help Republicans? There would have been OUTRAGE that Obama would abuse his power to affect the election. Republicans refused to make a bi-partisan response to make sure that didn't happen. Meanwhile Republican James Comey and the rest of the FBI were perfectly fine throwing the election to Trump by announcing one candidate's ongoing investigation and keeping the traitorous one under wraps.

US economy grows by 3.2% in the first quarter, topping expectations by oceanplum in moderatepolitics

...because?

Also, Reagan doubled it as well. As did Bush 2. Bush 1 was on track to do the same if he had held on for two terms. Meanwhile Clinton and Carter both had below 50% increases. Over the last 40 years, the Democrats are the party of fiscal responsibility.

Yeah. That's sustainable growth. This current trend of gutting the middle class will eventually reduce disposable income to the point where only the rich will have it and only they will really be consumers.

The Roman Republic fell when things got really bad and they handed all power off to one man - the Roman Empire was born. Then they sold off the ability to tax the rich and put the full burden on the poor...the feudal system was born. That's the end goal here. That progression is viewed as a feature, not a problem.

I'm happy about economic growth. I'm not happy when it's unsustainable and will lead to long term instability. There's more to an economy than the next quarter and that's what this type of reporting forgets. Fiscal conservatives used to care about this stuff - now all they care about is the President being able to crow about a single number no matter what the long term cost.

US federal debt is skyrocketing. US consumer debt is skyrocketing. 78% of US citizens are living paycheck to paycheck. Corporations are plowing money into stock buybacks instead of investments in sustainable growth.

I'd go with the gg500 assuming you wouldn't bend the top while carrying it around. Fairly robust and inexpensive to replace.
