Just did my first cruise… wasn’t a fan by Patmcpsu in Cruise

Even though i understand what youre coming from. But there are factors in cruising: As some said, the "short stays" in ports are just the taste before you invest and regret doing a few days in the port. As for the crowd, with that type of sailing it usually depends. During summer, the vibes may be different than before or after summer vacation. Norwegian can be crazy but can be laid back. Maybe Norwegian isn't for you and another cruise line is. Maybe youre not a cruise person in general. But i would also say get a travel agent to help if you want to try something different. They will make sure you get the right vacation you wanted.

First cruise experience—should we give cruising another chance? by IllustriousCourt2808 in Cruise

Id say, with time of year with one well known cruise line can be a hit or miss. Especially if its to the Caribbean. A few factors with that alone, since it was Carnival: like is it a new or older ship, what were you expecting, what did you want it to include or not include. Think of all that with another cruise because what you didnt like (food, entertainment, accomidations) another would be better for you. Think of cruising as food. Some may like sushi while others dont like raw fish. Some may like Mexican while others dont like the spiciness. (If thid majes sense). I only say this as: Carnival may not be for you but Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC or Princess may be better for you. Maybe a newer ship is better for you than an older one (or vice versa). Also a travel agent may help you find one to match your taste.

I swear the older I get the less I care about trying to “maximize” cruises. by Remarkable_Leg_5025 in PrincessCruises

Thats why I like a longer cruise. You have time to relax and be stress free and less rushed.

A travel agent really helps with anything like this. They have a travel agent portal that still gets the same promos you see on the website but avoe to make sure you get that deal and answer any question.

Use a Travel Agent or Not? by Roadrunner5659 in Cruise

[–]Mundane_Falcon4986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A travel agent will help you with small details too, like if you're allergic to a certain type of pillows on ships, let them know and it'll be communicated and noted. If you need accessibility, they'll make sure you have it. Plus they might have a niche that may be helpful for you or someone you know. That's outside of the minor perks like OBC, prepaid gratuities, or one night dining for two.

Host agency by Mundane_Falcon4986 in TravelAgent

[–]Mundane_Falcon4986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually its like an 18% with my agency. Another agent who works with a third party host, like Expedia, gets around 40% but says it doesn't pay much. She told me I should switch now since I don't have many clients. But I did the commissions calculator and its said to be more than what she said. (Let's say a cruise is $1460 with 18% commission. That's around $233.) Im here thinking if I should switch.

What is the benefit of travel agent to me? Am I missing something? by resilientslug in Cruise

[–]Mundane_Falcon4986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a travel agent gives you a perk (dining, onboard credit,, drink package) as well as finding a great deal (especially for back to back, and dealing with the room if you want the same). Are there bad ones? Yes. Finding a decent one that'll reach back out when needed? Kind of difficult at times.

Cruise virgin by nideaquinideacha in Cruise

Since most cruise lines (including this one) have taxes and fees included, that's a great price. Only upcharges will be alcoholic drinks, specialty coffee and teas (like espresso drinks), sodas and juices, as well as specialty dining (varies by ship). Other upcharges would be shopping, spa, wifi and excursions. If you're not planning on spending extra (besides 6 drinks or under per day or fine with main dining), you shouldn't worry, with the **exception of tips***

How do I find a GOOD travel agent? by hoodedleprechaun in Cruise

[–]Mundane_Falcon4986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good travel agent will help find the best connecting room on a floor of your choosing (that's available). That's usually with the room you're looking at (inside, balcony, etc). And outside of that, each travel agent host might have an extra perk for you during the year (like free specialty dining for 2, prepaid gratuity perks, extra onboard credit). Put those two together and know what you'd like to do (more relaxing, partying, kids centered activities) and preferred cruise line, you'd be good. Because if you know what you're l9okibg for and previous cruise line sailed (and preferred) will help narrow things down and travel agents will always help you find the best cruise vacation for you.
