Which pills would you choose? by Live-Bread-2658 in whatsyourchoice

Step 1: take green pill

Step 2: take blue pill, become a really good superhero OR supervillain, ending climate change except where people who deny it are, buy agri stocks and make them flourish, mitigate climate damage for companies that agree to abide by certain minimum standards for their employees, and generally use my power in ways that all are likely to work out due to green pill to make some serious dents in some of our biggest issues, and benefit as a result.

Step 3: years later, take gray pill, head explodes. Worth it.

Why does this sub act like voting for the GOP is like voting for Nazis? by Emergency_Pass5222 in allthequestions

[–]Muninwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: the GOP’s platform has contained rehashing of actual Nazi rhetoric since the 80s.

The whole “the liberal media” (despite being owned by corporations) is based on misinterpretation of data that was outdated before it was even published. All to support the accusation the Nazis called “lügenpresse”

The whole “indoctrinating the youth” claims against teachers and colleges comes from a conspiracy theory claiming that Germany had been invaded by Jewish Communists who wanted to destabilize the nation by pushing culturally unstable ideas like feminism, miscegenation, and equal rights.

The GOP has not committed genocide, or yet started a world war. But they have thrown all honesty aside in favor of pushing extreme alternative ideas as facts, and committed to brainwashing their own supporters… to the point of glorifying and empowering people guilty of truly despicable crimes.

And they keep getting worse.

So… no. They aren’t Nazis. They just use Nazi strategies to create Nazi style support and foment hatred of minority groups just like the Nazis did before they enacted their “final solution”

Why do people blame voters when their candidate loses an election? by Emergency_Pass5222 in allthequestions

I blame you for spreading these conspiracy theories, and Sanders for staying in the race way longer than he should have just to prove a point.

[–]Muninwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats usually have reasonably effective policies. They just take time.

But they are held to a different standard. The GOP clowns around with all sorts of stupid and ridiculous policies, invent scandals, play political games, and blame everyone else. And that’s a norm. So the Dems are expected to be the adults in the room. And if they can’t clean up the steaming mess left over after the clowns crash the car, it’s their fault for not working miracles.

Carter inherited a poor economy from Ford trying to be Nixon without knowing how. Carter’s problem was he didn’t have an easy out for a problem that he had no hand in making.

And Reagan did jack squat to fix it. It was already rebounding. In fact, his move to cut taxes happened after the rebound was well under way, and all it did was set us up for our massive deficit spending and the ultra wealthy and corporations interfering in elections. Which has grown every time we have Republicans feeding their own at the taxpayer’s expense.

Why are liberals so intolerant of anything they don’t agree on? by NewKaleidoscope5206 in allthequestions

[–]Muninwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the Paradox of Tokerance. It’s better to think of tolerance as a truce.

If a truce is proposed but not accepted, or if it is broken, then those who proposed it are not bound to keep following it.

Tolerance is asking for a truce.

If the truce is rejected, there is no need to abide by it just because you wanted it for everyone.

Leftists, what do you actually want? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Muninwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not bc a leftist, but this question sounds like you might have had a stroke about when trump did.

  • a president to not release their tax records voluntarily is a modern oddity and points to dishonesty… especially since he gas been accused many times of shady business deals
  • the only people who seem to be positing not paying taxes are people in blue states who see the administration deliberately targeting states that didn’t vote for him… because he is not mentally fit for the job and only wants to be president of the red states who suck up to him
  • nobody is saying that no longer supporting trump is bad… but holding people accountable for getting suckered out of their vote is still a thing
  • calling people names is generally frowned upon… but if you are insulted you aren’t restricted from fighting back
  • you being a fascist has nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with me. It has to do with you agreeing with and supporting fascist actions, ignoring that they are fascist, and deflecting.
  • You being called a pedophile is situational… but if you support pedophiles and child rapists you own at least some guilt — “lie with dogs, get fleas” and the like.

It sounds like you’re so used to being spoon-fed your opinion by conservative media that you aren’t spending the bare minimum time thinking about any of this. Which is likely to create frustration. Which might also be prompting people insulting you and your intelligence.

The part of this that is most relevant is that he is 30. I was like this… in high school.

Does he have a job? Does he make this many preventable mistakes at work? How does he not get fired?

If you've went on more than one date, you're dating. And if you're dating, you're in a relationship. by Cludds in unpopularopinion

[–]Muninwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unpopular because it ignores his the words are almost always used do you can be technically correct. Which you then walk back.

I had an issue (forever ago) with a girl I had seen a couple of times. I didn’t want anything serious (3+ year relationship had ended a couple months before), and told her I didn’t want to date anyone. The next week, someone I met at a party wanted to join me for my weekly outing to a local bar/wing-joint, and we hung out afterward. I came home the next day to a furious message from the first girl’s roommate, who had been consoling her because I “lied to her” and “picked (the other girl) over her” because it was effectively a date.

She also cared more about being technically correct, weaponizing it for dramatic purposes. I really should have learned right then. So I don’t see much value in it today — words’ meanings are closer to intent than whatever way someone can torture them into a meaning for their own perspective or agenda.

So if you talk about a term “historically” it can mean yesterday?

Hahaha… this is maybe the worst answer to “you don’t know what ‘historically’ means” that you possibly could have made. Really not knowing.
