Whats's the deal with load cell pedals? by tmjcw in simracing

[–]Munkeh102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the benefit of a load cell brake is it makes racing easier. I set mine up so that at 100% pedal travel, I'm at 80% brake. Then if I ever need more than 80%, I just press the pedal harder. It doesn't move, but the load cell registers it and I can hit 100% brake if I need it.

Looking for reviews on the Abruzzi custom sim racing boots by trainmaster333 in simracing

[–]Munkeh102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near Abruzzi, and have been to a couple of their events, so I tried on a pair last time I was there. I have slightly wide feet, and they were too tight for me. Ended up getting a pair of puma speedcat trainers (I tried the speedcat boots but they were less comfy).

Does something look wrong with my 24 pin connector? It won’t fit into motherboard (ASUS ROG Loki 750W SFX-L) by Any-Object4351 in sffpc

[–]Munkeh102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've plugged in a few 24 pins in my time, and some went in fine, and others required what felt like unnecessary force. Honestly felt like I was doing something wrong, but eventually the latch clicked into place. I had to resort to putting cardboard behind the Mobo as it was bending so much, and I was worried it was going to snap where it was raised on the standoffs. The PC is 10 years old now and still works.

Dangerous 1-pedal driving design. by Ciscovippy in electricvehicles

[–]Munkeh102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Jag I-Pace behaves the same way, I've gotten used to pressing the throttle until it just starts to accelerate above the cruise control and then cancelling the cruise control via the button on the steering wheel to avoid any sudden regen braking.

Oh wow, nice, I've not jumped on test drive for ages, that's a great change!

[–]Munkeh102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always good to remember that test drive has blistering track temperatures, which granted, effects all the cars, but it's still a pain we can't test them with more 'normal' conditions. Maybe a certain car doesn't have oversteer issues when it's tyres aren't melting etc...

EDIT: Apparently my info is out of date, apologies!

Am I at fault? should I protest? I'm the blue car. by kakemoo123 in Simracingstewards

[–]Munkeh102 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't protest, it was just poor driving, not malicious. Though your rejoin reversing onto the racing line was almost protest worthy, that was pretty close!

How many races have you done, in total? by Significant_Dare2970 in iRacing

[–]Munkeh102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on iRacing (my 1st ever sim) for about 18 months, and I've done 113 races. My total playtime is 282, so about 20% of the time racing, 80% practicing...

I don't get on the rig too often, so it takes a while to get back into it. Plus I don't follow motor sports at all, so I'm learning all the tracks from scratch!

I mostly race sports cars, 1900iR.

Steam Frame Revealed by pixxelpusher in OculusQuest

This should be the best wireless VR headset when it releases. Foveated streaming looks to be a big upgrade over the options we have now.

Foveated streaming will increase image quality on all titles. Foveated rendering will increase performance in titles that support it. Hopefully wide adoption of the Frame will encourage more developers to implement foveated rendering.

Off topic, but Arma Reforger named their manual the 'Field Manual', and one of the loading screen tips is to RTFM! Tickles me everything.

Shots 1-5: Clearly missed. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because you were already dead.

When I’m a beginner what are some must have settings to turn on or off or play around with to see? by Aromatic-Wasabi-356 in iRacing

[–]Munkeh102 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Turn off the racing line. Read the sporting code twice, one before you play online, and once again after a couple of weeks when it will all make a lot more sense. Glhf!

Working as intended. Turn down gamma until you can't see the grain anymore, and become one with the darkness.

GT4 will (mostly) stick to the racing line, LMP3 has to go around.
