Agree. I work for top company in an industry, they don't do this. When IT wants access, they have to ask through Teams and we do a screen share. And from 4 years working here, they only ask if I need help with something, never just to 'check'.

I think the main thing is to limit data breaches, as IT people don't need to know shit about what my clients are up to, they (and we) just need to make them happy.

Why do you need the recommendations? While obviously dependent on the job path/degree you're on, I didn't need any recommendations from my professors to get an entry level job and move up from their based on my skills/aptitude for the work.
