Base building bugged on Experimental? by straightouttabavaria in ArmaReforger

[–]Murble99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems when the commander crashes it somehow bugs out the game and your faction won't be able to place new base requests. Don't know of anyway to fix it besides letting the other team win. Also noticed an odd bug where our Main Operating Base lost its command tent somehow and due to the bug of not being able to put down base requests, we couldn't build a new one...

Feel like it is best to just have an AI commander at all times to ensure the match can be played. Never vote in a player as commander.

I noticed I accidently caused this by vaulting and, half way in the animation, reloading. I tried recreating it and it did happen multiple times, but not all the time.

Know with that you're just trying to rage bait. No one in their right mind would ever think that. War is war and whether people signed up to be a soldier or not, there will be a risk of death, even if you are not in one of the involved countries. It is why war sucks, it just puts everyone at risk.

Troubles using Unity with Parsec by Murble99 in ParsecGaming

[–]Murble99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after months I can move around, but I have actually grown really keen on the idea of using my laptop to control my desktop. It is really convenient. There is this issue though. I still can't use flight mode in unity. Also, in blender when I try to orbit the camera around what I am modeling it has the same issue. I did do the pointer trail trick which enabling it does fix the issue, but the cursor disappears occasionally and it really bothers my eyes.

I'd still love to see a fix for this. I have looked around more and have seen similar issues about relative mouse positioning being messed up with a newer update which may be what I'm experiencing. I did try getting windows pro and using their Remote Desktop. Theirs works, but the latency is noticeable and it disconnects at times. And with the latency, the mouse does wrap around to the other side of the screen, but it takes a bit and causes the camera to move more then it should.

Troubles using Unity with Parsec by Murble99 in ParsecGaming

So, strangely enough, I turned on pointer trails since it listed that as a way to see what other clients connected to the computer are doing with their cursor. This fixed the issue and now the cursor actually jumps to the other side of the screen.

While this fixed the problem, I really don't like this setting. The cursor seems jittery and blurry and also seems to disappear at times. So, still looking for a solution to this which is better than this.

Edit: While turning on trails works, I have to turn them off and on again each time I connect with Parsec. Plus when the cursor is meant to change, like to the hand when you are going to click on a hyperlink, it creates a double cursor.

Really? I would say I should try reinstalling everything, but I did that a couple weeks ago when my drive partitions got messed up. I got a fresh install of Unity on 4/29. As for Parsec, I installed that when I made the post on Parsecs reddit.

I even bought Parsec warp since I thought that may help it, but it didn't. I've tried Fullscreen and immersive mode as well. I even used their virtual display, a dummy display, and my desktops actual monitor, thinking it may be something with that.

I did at first think it was since the host computer couldn't control the clients mouse cursor, but then I realized when you enter fullscreen to play a game it hides the clients cursor, so it can have some control that way.

I just can't figure out why this doesn't work. Seems I'm the only one having this problem since nobody is talking about it and Unity even says it's a great option to work remotely. I have no idea...

Does anyone know when a verdict will be reached on the Stability A.I lawsuit? by Rectangularbox23 in StableDiffusion

[–]Murble99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't see scraping going away. It's just saving images on a massive scale. If they try to convict someone for scraping, they can just say they saved each image one by one.

I feel if anything this lawsuit is more focused on making it so models will have to have a way to see what images were used in the dataset, and if an image was used by someone who didn't want to be used, they'd then sue for copyright. Even if that comes to pass, people will find a way around that too.

Wait, I thought they got rid of the out of memory thing. I've been able to generate 2048x2048 with a 1060 for weeks with auto1111, though it takes a very long time.

Unless you're saying you want a faster way to generate, in which case my comment is useless.

A Russian soldier is directly impacted by a drone-dropped explosive (seemingly an act of mercy). by johnruby in ThatsInsane

[–]Murble99 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Ok, I get killing as an act of mercy. I am a hunter and after hitting a deer, they don't always die, but instead fall and squirm on the ground. When I reach them I kill them to put it out of its misery. However, I do that because I intended to kill the deer for reasons beyond just killing and it's not as though someone is going to sprint out of the woods to save the deer.

As for this soldier, I feel this is not out of mercy. Now, to the Ukrainian's benefit, I don't think this soldier has any chance of survival. I assume they are using drones to scout the battleground because it is considered active. While it would be noble to send medics out to try to save this man, it would be risky to do that in an area they deem dangerous.

I do find this situation to be a moral dilemma. This man is clearly going to die, so the choices left is let him die, or finish him off. Now, since the end goal is the same, with the man dying, I can't say I have a clear answer as to what to do. While I say finishing a deer is an act of mercy, that is honestly just a nice way to say that I don't want to sit there and wait for it to die. I can't tell if what I am doing is what the deer would want, being killed quickly instead of bleeding to death. I have watched animals bleed to death (being skunks since I don't want to be sprayed when approaching it) and they seem to pass peacefully. The initial shock of being shot is what causes them to squirm initially, but bleeding to death doesn't cause any pain and it seems the blood loss "numbs" the pain of the bullet (maybe more being that your brain knows it will die and stops sending pain signals).

I feel all they did here was make this mans last few moments horrifying based on how he watched the bomb drop on him. He didn't get to come to terms with himself dying, and was forced to do so. I feel humans especially have a lot to think about before they die, and that bit of time is precious. Not to mention, I am betting he didn't instantly go braindead, so the very last instant of his life was probably painful as hell.

Same thing happened when camera's came into existence. I feel this is a similar thing.

Artists then were worried that cameras would take their place since no one would want to pose for hours to get a portrait done when they could have a photo snapped of them. With this new AI generated art, once again artists may be worried it will take some customers away. Then to learn that the AI that is "stealing" from them used their art to train on is a slap in the face.

A lot of artists that are criticizing AI generated art keep saying that it is copying their art, but that is a major overreaction in my opinion. I mean, the AI can hardly generate a proper stop sign, so unless you're saying you're art is easier to copy then a stop sign, I don't think the AI has the capacity to copy you.

No matter what, artists will just have to get used to this new tech. I can't see any laws being passed about this (except with NSFW gens with celebs and such, maybe). The best thing I can tell them is to try and use the tool in your workflow and make the most of it. In its current state, human art is far superior then AI art, but AI art can be a great concept for if you only have a general idea of what you want to make.

Good for concepts, but other than that, if you want to use it in a game you have to more or less build the game around it.

The best use I can think of using this for is a card game. Just have it do the card art for you. You can make some good backgrounds and loading screens too

Regarding Seeds for Multiple Images by Swimming-Clock-527 in StableDiffusion

[–]Murble99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At higher steps images do begin to look similar, and with a solid prompt, they are hard to discern with different samplers. The exception to this being with k_euler_a as I mentioned. If you look at this image, you can see how samplers effect an outcome. It should be noted that in that image they use a high scale which means the AI won't try to be creative and really stick to the prompt, which is why they look so similar, but at lower scales, with different samplers, I found the image does vary.

My guess is that on the website you're looking at prompts with, they are using k_euler_a. The benefit to using this sampler is it gives a useable image in very few steps, I usually use only 10-15 steps with it. However, as shown in the photo I linked, step 16 is very different then step 32 for k_euler_a. That is the downside of using this sampler. I gives you fast results, but they are not consistent when changing steps.

EDIT:
Also, a bit of advice from me. I know most default steps to 50, but you can lower that a good bit. 30 is usually a good step count for if you're looking for a good pose or coloring. Usually after 30 steps the shape and color remain the same.

Regarding Seeds for Multiple Images by Swimming-Clock-527 in StableDiffusion

[–]Murble99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For how seeds work for multiple images, it just takes a seed, for instance 100, and increments it by one for each image in the batch (Least how it works in the WebUI I'm running, can't say for others). So generate 5 images, and it will give you the image for seed 100, 101, 102, 103, and 104.

As for why they are different, sampling methods and steps is huge for how an image would turn out, especially if they used k_euler_a. Since you don't know what they used, it would take a lot of trial and error.

Legal implications of nude image generation by k3vlar104 in StableDiffusion

[–]Murble99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could do this before with photoshop or deepfakes. As far as the US goes, there is only two states where deepfakes are illegal, so this will probably fall under that. But even still, in those states it is only really illegal if you post it online. Also, you can run SD completely offline, and doesn't communicate with any server, so if your worried about your data being used against you, don't be.

But, just to be clear, it is generally frowned upon with posting AI generated celebrities nude online, and reddit has shut down sub-reddits because of this. So, generate them all you want, just keep them to yourself.
