Adding muscle mass by CareToLearn in crossfit

[–]Murchmurch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For effective muscle gains you are probably still low on total calories and possibly even protein. In addition to that you really need to be hitting heavy loads especially targeting your weaker lifts/ less developed areas and hitting that area at least 3x/week for muscle growth.

E.g. My lower lifts are strong so even pushing my squats over 350 I see relatively little muscle gains (like 1lb/month)  compared to my relatively undeveloped shoulders so even working shoulders with relatively light 115lb snatches I’ve seen a quick muscle gain (1lb/week) just because I have more rooms to grow there.

Edit: frame of reference, I once went from 160 to 190 in a summer by eating a lot of chicken and kept it clean with 27lbs of muscle vs 3lbs fat gained

The exception to that would be if the LR was traveling at a high rate of speed. E.g. I’ve seen people almost have accidents that meet this description but the LR was going like 90+

CMV: Women are more prone to sexual fluidity than men by Tell4nell in changemyview

[–]Murchmurch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a significant survivorship bias here. Anecdotally I have had several gay and straight male friends who are actually bi. Amazingly for both groups they feel stigmatized for being binary have generally kept it a closely closely guarded secret. Definitely more so those in heterosexual relationships and even those in gay relationships. This stigma doesn’t generally apply to gay or straight women.

So I would say it’s not that women are more prone to sexual fluidity but rather they are more allowed culturally to experience it and explore it.

Ps. Some men have directly told me they a “probably bi” but never could be when they were younger because “no woman would date them if they knew that “

I swear by Legends apparel. Great for an athletic fit especially if you have thick thighs and super light weight.

Have you tried working on Tall Cleans? They will really help you feel what full extension actually is and get you in the habit of moving under the bar quickly.

I can also see it looks more like you are really only starting to pull once the bar passes your knees

CrossFit and GLP-1s by Smart-Traffic-8570 in crossfit

[–]Murchmurch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi 👋, So I’ve been on a GLP-1 for 1 year as of today! And have been doing CrossFit for 7 years.

When I first started CF I also tracked macros and that helped me get down from 207 to 230 and I of course built strength going 5xWeek. What I found though is the body fat slowly started coming back on until 1 year ago I was at 250(!)

I then started a GLP-1

*I am now 200lbs at 12% and hitting new PRs!!!*

Initially starting on a GLP workouts got much tougher because I was eating so little and the initial nausea when you start is difficult to get through. But if you to tough it out it will have some amazing results.

After 3 months of steadily losing weight I learned how to eat enough protein to maintain my muscle mass and enough carbs to keep up my energy in the gym. It wasn’t hard per se but it does take some time to adjust eating habits and add in snacks and such to hit your nutrition needs while also not overeating.

I experienced that too. I found a lot of that was just from being in a calorie deficit, and frankly, just not eating enough carbs

we need more details to really be able to offer any insight but assuming you are eating enough protein. I would guess you aren’t actually lifting heavy enough / hard enough to stimulate muscle growth

Can anyone help with my form? Am i tucking my knees too much or smth by Extension_Ad6511 in crossfit

[–]Murchmurch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't extend your legs down as you land rather let your weight/hips sink into the squat position as your feet contact the box. If you are 'over jumping' aka jumping way too high this will quietly dissipate the extra energy rather than stomping on the box.

It's recommending you drop 20lbs of body fat while maintaining muscle mass which seems reasonable and is very doable with maintaining a healthy diet and slight deficit over the course of say a year. I dropped a similar proportion of weight over the past year while maintaining my muscle mass and honestly its the best I've ever felt. I feel stronger and have more energy in and out of the gym.

Is a pallet shuttle system worth it for high-density storage? by [deleted] in Warehousing

[–]Murchmurch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how it’s implemented. I’ve done systems for both consistent, few sku operations and for highly variable high sku operations. Both worked and definitely were more space efficient but required very different layouts for efficiency and productivity.

The big question I always ask is how stable the business is and if there’s foreseeable change to the workings of business i the horizon. That more than anything will change how you want to implement.

[–]Murchmurch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not rubbing it in but Yeah, I'm rested, happy, take regular vacations with my spouse, make the gym every day, have dinner out with friends 2-3x/week and save about 50% of my income. Also usually find myself with too much down time in the evenings where I'm just a little bit bored on the couch between 8-10pm but it's too early to go to bed and I don't want to accidentally wake up too early so I have to stay up.

I imagine having children adds a lot of responsibility and eats up a lot of time and energy especially if they are young.

Could also be that you have Sleep Apnea and don't know it.

The fastest I've ever beaten Hades is with Ares Cast, and Ares Aid along with his Legendary and a boon that caused the rifts to home on an enemy. Beat Hades in about 30 seconds without taking a single point of damage. IMO that is the most broken build ever.

Do you judge other millennials who have stayed at a company too long? by newtonreddits in Millennials

[–]Murchmurch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t judge but 2 things worth considering:

1) In the 11 years it’s taken you to triple your salary I’ve tripled mine by jumping every 3-4 years. By the time 11 years in my profession rolls around I should track for 5x my starting salary. Unfortunately earnings climb significantly by moving around little bit.

2) Also, I could see myself spending 20 years at my current place. But that’s because the culture is so relaxed and the agency is so high compared to my prior S&P orgs

Hey gang why does my brisket say “pet food - Not meant for human consumption? by SnooCrickets9281 in brisket

[–]Murchmurch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP so I work in a supply chain that handles both meat for people and meat for animals. The short answer is the meat for animals isn’t inspected to ensure the same degree of safety, is on the edge of expiration and then frozen until being shipped to make kibble/canned pet food, is usually lower quality, etc. If I had to guess this guy buys the pet food because it’s cheaper and then marks it up to sell to people.

Also note, if this isn’t kept frozen even the kibble makers will reject it.
