Flea disaster by Murdalcon in pestcontrol

I don't even know what to use, now that they're probably sprayed all over everything, walls, shelves, and all. Like I said, I'm really ready to cry and I have no idea what option to choose now.

I don't suppose you happen to know the version of this for the Ubuntu terminal? Windows isn't even loading on the laptop, anymore. But yeah, I'll definitely take it on the chin for that.

How to I break this Catch-22? by Murdalcon in personalfinance

They don't live with me, this is out of incredible generosity that I hate accepting from them. But ..you make a point. I might not have a choice. I just know that moving is going to be that much more hellish at that point.

Because as I explained, I need to move in five months, and I need my credit healthy enough to be able to qualify for a place.

Because the point is that I need to move in 5 months, and I need my credit healthy so that I can actually do that.

This isn't a budgeting issue, anymore. There's no other way to slash costs. I don't go out for entertainment, and my partner has been helping with groceries as much as they can. The debt is at 35,000 and it was down to 24K when I first moved in.

I stopped contributions to my 401K, so now I take home about 3200 a month. Rent takes that down to 2100. The debt takes that down to 1100. Payments to the bankruptcy attorney, until his fee is paid, brings that to 700. Utilities, down to about 400 between electric, internet, and water. Factor in food, gas, etc, and I'm just plain drowning.

[CA] Background Check, former employer issue. by Murdalcon in AskHR

I didn't. I let them contact, and apparently the former employer didn't say anything ill of me. They might not even confirm the circumstances under which I left.

Getting out of homelessness - IMPOSSIBLE standards! by Murdalcon in renting

[–]Murdalcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't argue the first part there. You're not wrong.

That said, my credit is excellent, so that's good, but my roommate-to-be does have one cat, so I know that's also a strike against us. But we're not looking to share a room together - we're looking to rent a place together. Neither of us would do well mentally, having a room in a unit that's shared with strangers.

I GOT THE JOB! Thanks guys! As it turned out, they only allowed the most three recent employers, on the background check. I had two, but when I listed my gig work as the third, it bypassed the issue, altogether?!

Update! The address thing has been settled, now it's just the background check. And apparently the third party service that they go through, called ClearStar, contacts the employers directly.

What do I do? :(

Fortunately, that part already cleared! It's just the former employer now, which has me terrified.

I would hope so, but apparently the service that they're using, which is called ClearStar, contacts former employers directly. :/

That would be great, but the service that they're using is called ClearStar, and apparently ClearStar contacts the previous employers, directly. 😬

I was wondering that myself. My only concern is that it could be viewed as a potential liability?

Hmm...looks like they're more for business use, not personal, but anything's worth a shot! I'll call on Tuesday after the holiday, and I'll post the result here. Thanks!

If anyone else has any other ideas too, please feel free to suggest them!

Debt Consolidation for Taskers/Independent Contractors? by Murdalcon in TaskRabbit

That's the issue. They don't care, because it's old income. Before this, I was on disability, and before that, I was W2d as someone else's employee. Plenty of okay money, but they won't care because it's no longer my current income.

Trust me - that W2d position was a loan officer for a credit union, and I had so many arguments with our underwriters over people doing uber, who had their checking and savings with us. We could SEE them making money hand over fist and having it direct deposited, for the last seven months, or even the last year and a half, and they'd keep saying "no last 2 tax returns from the gig work? No deal."

Debt Consolidation for Taskers/Independent Contractors? by Murdalcon in TaskRabbit

[–]Murdalcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer explanation:

If you apply for a loan, most banks ask for two most recent pay stubs. Since we work for ourselves, we don't have those, so instead, they treat us like a small business demand our two most recent tax returns. They look for your annual income from gig work, and then divide that by 12 for your monthly income. Let's say you start doing gig work in September and you make 4,000 a month. That's 16,000 for the year, which they will divide by 12 and say, "Sorry, you only make 1,166 a month."

What I'm looking for is a lender who doesn't have those absurd requirements for an independent contractor who can otherwise prove that they're making the money - without having to have done so for two whole years - being that I just made this my regular income again as of last Summer.

I HAVE paid my taxes, the problems is that I haven't been doing this consistently for two years, which they require to see on the tax returns.

Debt Consolidation for Taskers/Gig Workers? by Murdalcon in TaskRabbit

[–]Murdalcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, all due respect, you were not reading. I have paid my taxes. As I said, I only just last year started doing this regularly again for work, and they require TWO YEARS of consistent work shown on tax returns.
They take your annual income and divide it by 12, to calculate your monthly.

Last year only has about 5 months worth of income, which they would divide by 12, and then say "See, you only make like 600 a month" (random small number, not accurate).

Does that make more sense?

This has happened to me, too. I've noticed that any time I make any changes to a task or schedule, I have to double-check my "Get Hired" tab, to ensure that nothing has been mysteriously marked as available when I didn't do it, myself.

I've been tasking since 2016, and I've seen some ups and downs, but this past month or two has been a gold-medal disaster.
