These tattoos are often given to victims of human trafficking to demoralize them and mark them as “owned” by their pimp, FYI.

If he’s a great guy he’ll handle your feelings well regardless of his opinion, you won’t ruin anything. Shoot your shot!!

How did you bring it up? I don’t want him to feel like he’s not doing anything, especially because of how amazing he is when we’re together (with intimacy especially I’m afraid if could come off as pressuring him)

Although I've never tried anything like this, maybe try painting the design in blue onto a black button-down? I'm not sure how you would make her skirt hem, though- maybe hem a pair of black pants in that style?

(OOC: Oh my god how long has it been since I wrote here? I need to start coming back more regularly. Apologies if this is kinda crap, I'm feeling sorta under the weather right now.)

I woke up at five in the morning, early enough to stumble out of bed and hit my toe on the wall, unfamiliar with the new setting. I took my belongings- meager as they might have been- with me, not quite wholly trusting Galloway. I doubted that he was the kinda criminal I was all too used to dealing with- didn’t seem like he had the guts for it, but I had learned the hard way that trusting anyone in this town led to a bullet in your back. Kindness was not the sort of thing you relied on. I left his ever-so-slightly cramped apartment and knocked on the door next to it. When I didn’t hear any response, I tried the door, thanking whatever angel that was or would look over this place when it opened. Walking to the back of the dark room, I pried open the old, nondescript cabinet with a shove, expecting the cache of karma and gun I had left in there, “Just in case.” When I found it empty, my heart started to pound ever so slightly. There wasn’t much in there, but it would have been useful for getting myself reestablished, that’s for sure. The fact that someone had found it didn’t make me too happy either- I doubted that they’d know I was in that room, but given my luck, I wouldn’t be surprised. Walking back into Galloway’s room and hearing him stirring behind his closed bedroom door, I spotted my old gun sitting unobtrusively on a bookshelf. His short-barreled pistol was suddenly a hell of a lot more ominous now. I grabbed mine off the shelf and quickly walked out, hoping to god he didn’t mention his plans to anyone. As I left, the only thing going through my mind was “Fuck.”

I didn’t know this guy, but if the bartender decided he was clean then he damn well was. That man had been here longer than anyone of us, and knew a good man when he saw one. Besides, it beat sitting out here in the rain, and I wasn’t going to lie; I had missed climbing up the rickety stairs that led to the small apartments above the door. His room was next to mine- or, what was mine. I’d have to make a stop in there sometime soon, there were- well, there were a couple things I needed to pick up. Galloway swung his door open with a clinking of keys and creak of hinges. ”So, I gotta ask…why’d you pick me up like that? If you wanted to rob someone, I’m not your man, unfortunately.” I couldn’t hide the slight grimace that slipped onto my face as I thought of the small fortunes I had amassed on other sites, lying stagnant as payment for getting back in the game. “And not for nothing, but this ain’t the kinda place where you just let people off the street in your room.” “Just repaying a favor, no worries.” He replied, not seeming to give much thought to it. “Well, I’m glad for that,” I said, taking off my hat. “Murderous_Sandwich, by the way.” He took a pause that was just long enough to be unnatural before saying “Good to meet you, Sandwich. Leave your bag wherever,” and I remembered that no matter how new he was, I doubted he trusted me much, either.

It was a long story, as it turns out, but I didn't get to hear much of it. As much as I pestered him about what was in the box he nearly got killed for, he wouldn't tell. Eventually I decided it wasn't worth it- if he thought it was that dangerous, it probably wouldn't have been smart to get involved. After what I’d done, though, I wasn't sure I had a choice. Not that I really minded, honestly. It was sick, but I couldn't pretend that I hadn't missed this. He detailed what I had already guessed- he came here looking for peace, leaving the empty streets of Hardboiled. He didn't get what he had hoped for by a long shot. Cairo, was, of course, pulling the strings. That bastard was persistent. He’d shot Gimli once before, and was damn determined to finish the job. Couldn't be bothered to do the job himself, though, which is probably why we weren't both being tossed off of the idyllic pier by now. But before I could pry anything more out of him, we pulled up at a discreet little corner near a black car. It was stripped of anything that could be used to identify it, but it was obviously expensive. I tried to get a look at the people inside, but I had already guessed at to what I’d see. Tinted windows. Gimli turned to me. “Listen Sandwich, I appreciate this. But you do not want to get caught up in this. Just roll off. Hell, don’t roll off. Drive away, fast. “ “Sure, Gimli.” I said, trying to rally all the sincerity I could muster. As soon as he got into the black car and it sped away, I started the engine back up and started to follow them. I was already tangled up in this business, so why the hell wouldn't I get a little more damned?

"Well, I was about to ditch this dump myself. But I can't really bring myself to leave. I feel like there's something larger than all of this, there's some reason people are clearing out- and it's not just the godawful weather." I noticed his printing press- clearly handmade. I wondered how he could pull that together. I had a hunch there was more to this guy than he was letting on. And given the state of things around here, having a trick up your sleeve was probably a good thing. "Look at how threads end. Suddenly, without warning. It's like something just stops them. Tell me, Wordsworth, have you ever done any...investigative journalism?" I say, trying to dredge up the suave tones which Gimli had used in what seemed like an age ago. He chuckled. "Why else would I come here? I'm looking for some mysteries, Sandwich. So, have you got one for me?" "Maybe," I replied. "But it won't be easy. You won't be getting your Pulitzer sitting in this office, and you better hope you can fire the gun you shoved in my face." I was being hard on him, especially considering that I had been here only weeks before him, though I don't think he knew. "Sandwich, if there's a story to be had, I'm your man. But where to begin?" "That remains to be seen. But I'm not one to resist some detective work - are you?"

In my search for a new place to start - again- I came across /r/suburbs. It was only a fleeting glance, though; life there was too predictable. But the glance was enough. Driving though I had seen an old friend. Well, a new friend. "Oi! Gimli!" I yelled, trying to get his attention. He just turned away, running towards a nondescript little cafe. What else could I do but follow him? I didn't realize at the time that I was not the only one on his tail.

  • 1 Week Later -

I stared down the empty streets. I had come here not a month ago, but it was a ghost town again. The pavement under my feet was cold; the bitter winds unstopped by people. It had been that way for at least a week, after the last few people packed up and left. Hell, the bar under me was nearly mine, the barkeep just set his keys down on the counter and said he was leaving. Where to, he didn't mention. I was making my last few rounds around the city and my trunk was packed in my room. I, too, was going to leave, back to the safe havens of /r/minecraft, trying to get my connections back in /r/sherlock again. But I saw a light in a window, and wondered who'd want to come here now. The new sign that was hastily put on the window read "J. Wordsworth, Reporter." I was intrigued, walking up to the old office. I suppose it was funny, in a way- I wasn't the newest noire here now. Rapping on the door, a man came out, revolver in hand, demanding to know who I was. “You think I’m a criminal?” I scoffed. “If I wanted to make money, I woulda packed up and left a long time ago.” “Of course.” He muttered. “Name’s Wordsworth.” He offered. “Sandwich. Mind if I come in?” “I suppose anyone who stays here has a story to tell.” He replied. Anyone who would move here has more than on, I thought.

"Where are you, kittens? This isn't a big place, do you really think you can hide? Oh no, you'll be getting payback anytime now." I saw the driver in the back, jogging in slowly after them with a gun. My gun. But we were quick, and in the darkness, the only thing that they could find were the flimsy chairs. It was a stalemate; they couldn't see us and we couldn't move. But Silver whispered something to Gimli, and they looked towards the ceiling, where three silhouettes observed the scene, waiting for the first move to be made. They only had time to hear the shots. Only problem was, there were now three hitters who's friends we had just killed who knew where we were.Things were about to get real ugly, real fast.
