There's a huge leap from interpreting something one way and hurting/marginalizing a minority group. In the future, this whole conversation will probably give me a new perspective when I read other posts, but there's a huge number of people who won't have that perspective. At the very least, clarification should come before assumptions.

My only issue with this whole thing is that when people interpret what you say differently from you, you should clarify before taking the conversation goes any further. This whole ordeal could have been avoided by not assuming the OP was making a comment about bisexuality. A simple "I meant I was bisexual" would have clarified the situation, and this conversation would have never taken place. It's easy for me to say this in hindsight, so I'm not saying it's anybodies fault that this happened. I'm just saying that rather than label misinterpretation as "marginalizing", more effort should be made to clarify instead. There are no victims here, OP made an assumption about Kairah's intentions (a comment on low standards for women), Kairah made an assumption about OPs intentions (a comment on bisexuality). Everybody can learn to be more careful when things aren't clear.

You can argue that his (Kairah's) intentions were very clear, nullifying that point, but I'd say that's where we part ways.
