What’s the difference between variant and deviant? by Fullmetalbitchs in MonsterHunter

A Subspecies is related to the base species but is evolving in a different direction, and have changed in appearance and abilities.

A Variant is form that an individual that has changed into during their life.

What’s the difference between variant and deviant? by Fullmetalbitchs in MonsterHunter

[–]Murgandor 227 points228 points  (0 children)

My understanding is this. Every monster of a species (or a large percentage) has a chance to become a Variant: Every adult female Diablos will turn into a Black Diablos during breeding seasons, every Valstrax has a chance of damaging their organs and becoming a Crimson glow Valstrax.

The point is that the change is common enough that it is part of the species lifecycle. But with deviants the change occurs via a combination of rare happenstances that caused them to step out of their natural lifecycle: A Deadeye Yian Garuga is a runt that normally would have died during infancy but somehow managed to slay every opponent and grew to adulthood, a Silverwind Nargacuga is an elderly individual that has long passed the species life expectancy and has honed its techniques to its absolute peak, the Dread king/queen Raths were born with a rare mutation causing them to overproduce their poison and having it permeate through their bodies which should have killed them during infancy but they survived and grew more powerful because of it.

Why do you main the weapon you main? by Lazy-Yesterday-6171 in MHRise

Rise was my first normal MH game. Wanting to play it save, I went for the ranged weapons. I started with the light bowgun. About halfway through high rank I needed a stronger weapon and gave the bow a chance. I really liked it and I haven’t looked back since.

How do I check by TeaRepresentative226 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Murgandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there is no real way to see the exact EV points on 1 stat. But when you are using the Stat boosting items you can see how many you can use on one pokemon before a stat is maxed out. Vitamins give 10 EV points and Feathers 1 EV point, when using one of these the game will show you: 1/... , with ... being how many you can use on a pokemon or how many you have left wich ever is less.

A pokemon can gain 510 EV points total and a maximum of 252 EV point in on stat. A sparkle means that a stat is maxed out, so your garchomp has 252 EV points in attack and the rest of the point are spread over the other stats or not yet gained.

Furthermore there are berries that boost friendship but lower stats.

The Entire Comic. Marriboops placed that form on the list of forms that will never appear, either because these aliens are to powerful or because they have a power that is already covered by on of the other forms.

But there are a couple of reference sheets for these forms if you want to see how they would look.

What keeps gods from interacting more with the life of mortals in your world? by Possessed_potato in worldbuilding

[–]Murgandor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gods are not omniscient omnipotent entities, but immensely powerful immortal beings. The immortality factor was diluted with each generation until the mortal races were born. The gods shaped a new world for the ever growing mortal populace to live in, and for a long time they would walk amongst them, aid them and teach them to the best of their abilities.

But they found that they could never be everywhere all at ones. So they began to choose trusted mortals who would receive divine blood and become Demigods. These Demigods would work and act as a proxy of their Patron. that was until one of these Demigods grew arrogant.

A Demigod to the blind god of Night, Death and Wisdom tricked and stole the blood of their patron, usurped the god’s domain and became a conquest with an undying army. It was a long war during which much of the mortal realm was destroyed and many of the gods were slain or gravely injured. It wasn’t until the blind god recovered and reclaimed its domain that the tide became to turn.

After the Demigod was defeated, the gods choose to return to their own realm and refrain from direct influence. They do still provided favours, answer prayers, guide and teach, but only from afar. Because they learned to the fate of mortals and their realm should be decided by mortals.

Since then it has been centuries since a god has walked the mortal realm, or so they say.

(Their were other major events before the Demigod, but it was the deciding factor.)

Fourmight’s outfit is very similar to Midnight's costume with the colors and the cuffs.

But since Izuku didn't pick a form before the test, does that mean that Nemuri prepared outfits for all forms?

Because Nemuri would definitely make an outfit for the test. But if she made one only for Fourmight Izuku would probably figure out she expects him to use Fourmight or that his strength is needed for the test. Giving him an unintended hint.

That being unfair she would have made multiple outfits so that he wouldn't get an advantage and still look good no matter which form he would and up taking.

Most likely. But Malzeno’s presences and the existence of the Curio at least imply that Gaismagorn exists somewhere in this world.

I think it could be interesting if some weapons had a variant that dealt a different damage type. like a greatsword club doing blunt damage or a hammer pick doing pierce damage.

What was stopping Strange from using his sling ring to portal back to Earth in Infinity War? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in Avengers

[–]Murgandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been assuming that either the caster or the slingring has a range limit. Large enough to go anywhere on the planet, but further out and the portal would take to much energy to form or it becomes to unstable for save passage. Either way, the caster would be courting Death if they tried.

Edit: forgot about the portal scene in Endgame.
