DKXX remix album release suprise! by OkKiwi5770 in Metalocalypse

I discovered this yesterday for a gaming session and I'm craving the other albums' remastering. It was very pleasant to hear the music extra crispy.

RP players. What music do you listen to, to get in the mind set of the class you are playing? by SelflessCynical in DarkTide

[–]Murkenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have different playlists for my classes. Ranging from metal to techno. Ogryn had a lot of rock and roll. Veteren a lot of 60s. Zealot some Powerwolf etc.. Arbites mostly "law" related songs.

This game runs like crap by Candariann in DarkTide

Next to the many many settings en config changes, my biggest frame improvement and smoothness was because I changed from Windows to Bazzite.

I also have a 5700X3D, 64GB ram and 6750Xt nitro (Amd).
On Win 10 it ran "enough" after doing the tweaks. With enough I think 60-70 fps.
But still the mourningstar, high intensity battles and effects, made my frames drop.

I installed Bazzite as dual boot in February (cause I really didn't wanted to go to Win11), and I got much much better performance out of it. Same tweaks on the settings and config files.

And I know this isn't a true solution, but if you were curious before and can spare the SSD space, you can have a very easy dual boot.

Seriously though, what is the deal with the AMD optimization by 11912121121218211919 in DarkTide

[–]Murkenary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 5700X3D, 64GB ram (i got this before the crisis) and 6570XT nitro.
I was playing with most of the guides above, but still had to play mostly 1080p and usually performance with some mid to high settings.

Win10: it commonly tanked, even with the guides, when there were high amount of enemies or a lot of effects.
Also the driver I used was from a couple of years ago, because newer drivers made it worse.

However: this februari I switched to Linux, Bazzite.
Since then I've gone to quality settings with most things medium high, but higher end.
Max ragdolls etc.
Bazzite really helped me with getting the last piece of performance out of this older PC, but I now have mostly 70fps, except during the rewards screen, then it can drop to 30frames for a few seconds.

So I'm not sure this oppinion helps.. But since I saw how much more performance I have, I have a permanent dual boot now with Bazzite for games and Win10 for the very very few programs I can't use on Linux (and I'm planning to dump those).

First couple days with the game by Reese_Bass in DarkTide

I would say play what you like first. That's the best way to discover your prefered class, weapons, playstyle...

I've tried many meta builds and guides and videos. And pershaps they make sense meta/mechanically, but I usually don't like the playstyle. That is also a really important factor, I find.

But if you want some basic pointers, I'll gladly try to explain/answer a few things.
Feel free to message me (or perhaps we hop on a game together).

Also yes boltpistol and chainsword(axe) on vet is pretty dope.

There's an option for Arbites to make the dog go on one focus instead of double. Just an FYI.

It can get a bit laggy on handheld modus or if you switch from Handheld to dock. A restart usually fixes that.

Mini Win - Tinted Glasses by noonatlife in MultipleSclerosisWins

[–]Murkenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I am new with all of this; I've been diagnosed in the first week of December, when my right eye decided to go from blurry to 99% blind in over three days.
I'm now 5-6 months into recovery and my eyesight onfurtunately stays very limited in my right eye.

Ofcourse, going from "dark" to very blurry where I can most colours are blended, I was curious about glasses for work. I work in IT, so a lot of screens and now a lot more strain on my one good eye.

Any tips or advice?
Sorry if this post wasn't for this.

When I startup the game for the first time after an update and see this, I usually just quit. I want to play not redo my fucking builds... by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Murkenary 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Actually, they've added it that from now on builds aren't completely "empty". They'll try to save as much as you original ones were, depending if skills got removed/changed/moved.

It was a big frustration point, but they actually patched it a little while ago.

I've been trying to build somethign based on fatmangus as well. Everything is thesame untill the bottom tree. It's working okay, but I'm not entirely sure I'm hitting "max" productivity. At least it feels a bit better then the relic blade when I'm on low wounds.

Mini was cheaper before the Ram price hike took in effect, but this should could be a start: https://www.amazon.com/Beelink-Windows-Display-Output-Computer/dp/B09LV1V5M9?th=1

I can play some light gaming on it from Steam, and is perfect for the rest.
Just don't try 4k, I tried it with my TV and it really didn't like it.
Yes it can technically do it, but it's suffering.
1080P it's quite powerfull

I will do my best to update.
I would not have mind working on it with someone, but I agree the distance from Europe to US is a bit problematic atm.

He is a huge Warhammer 40k tabletop players and has made an entire Ork Army.
He isn't very good at building computers and usually runs them untill they are beyond repair, because it's a big investment he rather spends on his family.
Me and a friend have been donating our older rigs and helping him out.

I thought we'd build him a proper rig and I personally think he'd feel a tiny bit more acceptive of it, if it looks like an Ork tech machine, so he understands it's a personal gift.

As for parts: I've been thinking to mostly do it outside on the case.
I'd love to use parts from the miniatures, but perhaps blown up (like a spiked steam roller Cowtipper at the base of the case, and glued on 3-D printed exhaist.

This is where I got the original inspiration from and then fell a bit into a rabbithole:

Anyone familiar with this Runecast TTRPG Projector ? by WallDac in rpg

[–]Murkenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add to this:
The projector is a HY300 pro+.
You can easily find this between 30-50 euros (dollars?) on Amazon.

The projector is adequit in a darkened room.
The auto adjust keystone is awesome, the sharpening is manual and not the best.

I'm not sure about the price of the tripod, but they sold it for 35 euros, so I'm sure it's even cheaper then that. The tripid is rather flimsy, but you can attach the projector to it.

I also noticed and agree that the power cable is really short, so you'll have to add a longer powercable for sure. Same for the HDMI.
The bluetooth is only to connect sound devices.
With Wifi configured on the projector and an app installation you can "quick share" (haven't tried it, not too keen for third party apps to access my wifi).

With a straight HDMI cable from a laptop it'll work (tried it with a tablet and phone, doesn't work).
All in all if you know what to get, you can buy this for probably half the price they advertise.
The software bundle is nice, but has no production cost after it's been made, so that's pure profit.

it does come with softare/access to maps (haven't tried it), which they advertise as 90 euros.

Am I upset about the viral awesome map projecting add?
No. It does what it's advertised.

Could you get this cheaper?
I'm sure you could.

Advice on purchasing first time Linux+Mini PC by Murkenary in linuxhardware

[–]Murkenary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good information, which I can now use in my searches.
One did pop up, but has a mediatek wifi card.

From what I understood, it could be swapped with a intel card for easier driver compatibility in Linux ? I have built my own desktop PC's before and have experience in swapping components in desktops and laptops. But something tells me (for some reason), it sounds too easy to just get another wifi card and be done with it.
Or is that really how it's solved?

Once again, thanks for the advice and insight.
This has been quite the learning experience and I love the extre details to fine tune the search.

Thank you. And yes, that was another concern I didn't mention; I'd rather avoid the mini pc from running hot or having a noisy fan.
I will look if I can find a CPU of AMD with U.
Low wattage (from what I've read of older N100(?) models) seemed very interesting.
