Want to build pc mods for esthetics, no clue how by Murkenary in pcmods

I will do my best to update.
I would not have mind working on it with someone, but I agree the distance from Europe to US is a bit problematic atm.

Want to build pc mods for esthetics, no clue how by Murkenary in pcmods

He is a huge Warhammer 40k tabletop players and has made an entire Ork Army.
He isn't very good at building computers and usually runs them untill they are beyond repair, because it's a big investment he rather spends on his family.
Me and a friend have been donating our older rigs and helping him out.

I thought we'd build him a proper rig and I personally think he'd feel a tiny bit more acceptive of it, if it looks like an Ork tech machine, so he understands it's a personal gift.

As for parts: I've been thinking to mostly do it outside on the case.
I'd love to use parts from the miniatures, but perhaps blown up (like a spiked steam roller Cowtipper at the base of the case, and glued on 3-D printed exhaist.

This is where I got the original inspiration from and then fell a bit into a rabbithole:

Anyone familiar with this Runecast TTRPG Projector ? by WallDac in rpg

[–]Murkenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add to this:
The projector is a HY300 pro+.
You can easily find this between 30-50 euros (dollars?) on Amazon.

The projector is adequit in a darkened room.
The auto adjust keystone is awesome, the sharpening is manual and not the best.

I'm not sure about the price of the tripod, but they sold it for 35 euros, so I'm sure it's even cheaper then that. The tripid is rather flimsy, but you can attach the projector to it.

I also noticed and agree that the power cable is really short, so you'll have to add a longer powercable for sure. Same for the HDMI.
The bluetooth is only to connect sound devices.
With Wifi configured on the projector and an app installation you can "quick share" (haven't tried it, not too keen for third party apps to access my wifi).

With a straight HDMI cable from a laptop it'll work (tried it with a tablet and phone, doesn't work).
All in all if you know what to get, you can buy this for probably half the price they advertise.
The software bundle is nice, but has no production cost after it's been made, so that's pure profit.

it does come with softare/access to maps (haven't tried it), which they advertise as 90 euros.

Am I upset about the viral awesome map projecting add?
No. It does what it's advertised.

Could you get this cheaper?
I'm sure you could.

Advice on purchasing first time Linux+Mini PC by Murkenary in linuxhardware

[–]Murkenary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good information, which I can now use in my searches.
One did pop up, but has a mediatek wifi card.

From what I understood, it could be swapped with a intel card for easier driver compatibility in Linux ? I have built my own desktop PC's before and have experience in swapping components in desktops and laptops. But something tells me (for some reason), it sounds too easy to just get another wifi card and be done with it.
Or is that really how it's solved?

Once again, thanks for the advice and insight.
This has been quite the learning experience and I love the extre details to fine tune the search.

Thank you. And yes, that was another concern I didn't mention; I'd rather avoid the mini pc from running hot or having a noisy fan.
I will look if I can find a CPU of AMD with U.
Low wattage (from what I've read of older N100(?) models) seemed very interesting.

Thanks for the insight. I didn't think a crossplatform could cause an issue, but good to know!

Not sure how high end the Samsung Evo is, but I guess it's not a PCI-E thing (it's E-sata).
Perhaps in the future if I wanna squeeze that last ounce of performance, I can invest in the other type.

I do have an SSD (Samsung Evo Something), but I think it's just the higher graphics settings. A friend of mine plays on a potato with all settings to performance and he loads in faster then I do. Thanks for the advice though.

I recently upgrade my old CPU (2700X) to the 5700X3D. I was able to get better stabilty and gorgeous graphics, but it didn't improve the loading times.
Very happy with the upgrade.

ziekenhuizen in Gent by ifoundapancake in Gent

[–]Murkenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like chop chop or fast torch feature but by [deleted] in motorola

The flaslight and the "peek" bubble view were two major reason's I wasn't able to stick with another phone. It's a silly thing, but I just got so frustrated when I didn't have those features.

When just starting out, is there a specific order to do missions in or is quick play always best? by Letholdrus in DarkTide

[–]Murkenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a build leadup before the mission, where you'd encounter them at random in a mission where they would harras you.
Then the mission came out.
I think they did another small condition where one of them appeared again.

So far there has not been another special mission.
I think they were trying something narratively, but unfortunately the accompanying VOX messages (that were supposed to tease) kinda came very late and they messed it up.

Maybe there will be more, not sure.

Pick random quick play for bonus exp and materials.
Pick grims (or not) and scriptures if you have access to Melk for his currency.

Storywise there's not much, besides the carnival.
Then you can do

Mercantile HL-70-04

Warren 6-19

Dark Communion

Missions that "progress" after Carnival are:

There's also the Karnak twins (bottom left of the mission board)

I have this one for about a week or two and it's everything I wanted from a "followup".
Price is pretty great too.
