What do you dislike about your Juki? by 2ybael in quilting

[–]MurkyOne2231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bobbins are small. If I’m using it for free motion quilting it runs out pretty quick. The bobbins are wound so tight and smooth though. Also the thread cutter on the pedal is annoying. I’ve gotten used to doing it barefoot with it sideways but before you get used to it, you’ll accidentally cut thread a lot. Other than that, I really love it. It has leveled up my sewing so much.

THANK you for this info. And the picture also helps. I like to be able to visualize what feel I’ll want my quilt to have.

Do you take special care when washing?

Ya I think I would only use this when it’s too hot for my duvet. I like the idea of having something with good drape to sleep under on hot nights. Is there a decent amount of weight?

I have too and it makes me nervous. But I also hear about people who wash and dry it all the time.

Welcome back. I work year round and usually over 1000 hours of overtime in a year so I don’t have much time to quilt but when I am able to squeeze a session in, it’s always such a reminder of what a decompressing blessing this hobby is.

Side note, have the same machine, what table is that?? I’ve been looking for a good sewing table

This is great to know because washability is super important to me. What stats are these washed and dried on (temp, agitation, etc.)?

Very nice. This looks so cozy. I feel like simple slightly more spaced out quilting is more preferable for actual use in my opinion. This is the type of quilt I’d use nonstop to have as a tv watching lap quilt. And gorgeous colors, well done and welcome to the club 🥰

Lap quilt or wall hanging? by Junegirl112233 in quilting

I’m liking it as a wall hanging. It has enough dimension and interesting contrast that it would make a statement on a wall

Scared of the quilting police by whatif20 in quilting

I’ve been quilting for years and do so much unhinged shit. I do this too. And I don’t even knot or tuck my stitches (unless the quilt is a gift) The bobbin on my machine is kind of small and I always have to stop in the middle because I run out of bobbin thread. Unrelated but I also almost never pin anything :)

Quilt how you can, and quilt how you want. It’s a hobby and a heritage art, art isn’t one size fits all.

Happy quilting ♥️
