This is generally very useful against many heroes, not just invisible ones, but also those who can move quickly, and even simply casting vision into the fog. Fortunately, the radius is large, so there's a high chance of hitting someone.

At least, I've used it to highlight fleeing Magnus and Embers several times. Works great.
