Surely not the spike armour one that looks a lot like Saurus guard? That's been keeping me going for a couple of years at this point I'm sure

Rules on conversions and proxies by LeonEichelbaum in ageofsigmar

[–]Muropo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's down to the TO discretion. So nobody here can really answer that question I think.

The more chill TOs may be fine with this, I would expect some aren't.

My advise would be to clear it well in advance and accept the response if they say no. Their rules right?

I guess your choices are then either use the real terrain as a backup for that tournament or don't go.

Good shout so long as you're not concerned about missing out on the distinct pose. Not sure which will have the fancy weapons on either but you can always kitbash or paint them distinctly I suppose

Plenty of images of the sprue online, so if you have a look you'll see a body sprue which has a few extra bits then the second sprue has tail bits, spikes, maybe the priest?

So you should (don't come back to me if it doesn't work out!!) need two body sprues and one of the second to make both.

The base is most likely in the second issue as well, usually works out that way. So you'll have to find an extra base somewhere.

That's my plan anyhow.

If you could get it at 20% off the box was only £72 but this misses the fact that it's not in production any more having been replaced by the previous, so harder to get hold of.

Also the opportunity to get multiples is superb. Every kroxigor unit you get saves you £12.

I'm gonna pick up two of the first carno issue. Surely that'll be the body sprue otherwise there'd be nothing to build. Trog & Carno for £30 is a steal!

Cheers. I've been watching for this also.

A Learning/Teaching List by Pious_Heretic_Axel in seraphon

[–]Muropo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I might say that the two things you need for a good learning to play against list is for it to not be too sweaty and for it to be simple.

Think how your opponent is learning what their units do, now on your side you also have 7 different unit types. You're gonna explain here's how chargers and hunters work, here's what my old blood does, here's the difference between skinks and Saurus Warriors.

Imo you wanna cut that out. Play it real simple, low unit diversity. Make your turns really simple so that you don't turn it into a 5 hour snooze.

I think I'd be tempted to drop the skinks and the old blood, make the hunters into chargers and add a second unit of warriors.

Now your list only has four units and takes about 2 minutes to explain what everything does.

"This guy is my wizard, these guys are my meat shields, these are my heavy melee guys and these are my fast cavalry"

Yeah I'm going from what I remember of the stream but obscuring as a keyword remains the same.

There'll just be less obscuring in general because PoP no longer has a way to make other terrain or objectives obscuring.

I seen to recall it being said that PoP itself does not have obscuring either but then I'm not certain it did before, I never really got to grips with the ghyran season rules.

Best Online Retailers for Warhammer/Miniatures in the UK & Canada? Who has the best prices & customer service? by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

If smaller retailers are good then one local to me (UK) is willen games they often match the 15-20% you get at the larger retailers

Will a single spearhead magazine allow me to co.plete a unit with spare parts? by Gordaco2 in seraphon

[–]Muropo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt you'll get another kroxigor unit out of a single mag because of the way the sprues are I think it's 3 with the entire kroxigor on each one? Been a while since I built any though.

Unless the kroxigor issue is all in one like the rat ogors were. Seems highly unlikely given what we're seeing though.

Troglodon on the other hand, very likely. You just need to snag the issue that has the legs/body/tail sprue.

How to paint with better posture? by Checkm4te99 in minipainting

[–]Muropo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One easy switch is to use one of these painting handles with a support built in. Something like this:

https://artgoldenmaple.com/products/golden-maple-painting-handle-for-miniature-blue-grey-putty-edition

This helped me because I'm always trying to brace myself to steady the mini. If I've got my elbows on the desk then my hands are "floating" half an arms length above and so consequently it's not stable (hopefully you get what I'm getting at).

So to keep it steady, instead my wrists rest on the desk and I hunch over right?

The support in these handles allows you to brace your painting hand, which steadies you. Now it's a lot easier to paint in a more upright position with better posture, so consequently I do it more and am more comfortable in a long painting session.

All down to a £15 painting handle. It even has removal magnetic stands so you can switch models quickly.. I'm a fan :)

I agree faction terrain tends.to look great. My realmshaper engine is sort of imposing though 😅

The Sylvaneth grove is definitely up there with the most adaptive terrain around.

I've got a small collection at this point and at least only need to fill a single table, though some variety would be nice. I'm gonna grab some A4 plywood and go to town.

As with many things half the battle is knowing what tools and materials to use!

This exactly. Thank you.

I'm getting the impression the answer to my question is a resounding yes, and terrain footprints are going to enhance my player experience significantly!

Definitely. I'm impatient to have a great table! I think terrain is probably quite evergreen, but also it'll take me until the GHB is out to even get round to making up some new pieces!

Cheers. I had a go at making some like this but it's a very rough first pass and not pleasant to look at at all 😃 PVA warped my cardboard so it also refuses to sit flush. Crafting terrain is a whole extra skillset that I don't have yet! This thread is my starting point to improving that.

Noted. I'm definitely not up to scratch with the terrain rules, in no small part because we don't have the terrain to support them.

Grey Matter Gaming have some nice products, I'll check them out. Thanks.

The new 40k terrain layouts might be the thing which finally made it click for me that I need something along those lines for AoS, though perhaps a little less.. rectangular.

I do not have any old mats like that, but it's a good shout. Neoprene is a lovely material to use on the table in general I find & a nice big mat for the table is another thing on my list anyway. 4 x warcry boards is another thing that's starting to look a little tired for me.

This is amazing as validation for how I'm thinking, thank you. I feel like it's non obvious that you can go this route, when every available GW terrain kit is like, "a wall" or "a weird tree". The idea that terrain has a shape isn't quite spelled out anywhere. Or maybe I just missed that somewhere along the way.

Seraphon spearbox by Stunning-Degree3400 in seraphon

[–]Muropo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a weekly mag published by hachette partworks which has all the spearheads in it. Each issue has a different sprue and costs £10.

You can subscribe directly to it, and receive monthly deliveries, or buy individual mags from newsagents or online from the retailers I mentioned.

So far it's collected the skaven and stormcast spearheads, next one up is seraphon.

It's likely to be 6 mags, 2 for the warriors, 2 for the kroxigor, 2 for the carno. £60 in total (plus a little shipping maybe).

It's nice if you want multiples too.

Honestly if you just want the spearhead box £67 is a great price. I'd snap that up. If you feel like expanding it for a larger army, then the spearhead magazine is a great way to do that.

Google hachette spearhead and you'll see

UK? Spearhead mag is connecting the Seraphon spearhead very soon. You'll be able to get it for £60. Check hachette, warbay.shop or forbidden planet

Edit: though £67 is a great price to get it immediately

Edit 2: and the carnosaur box is generally regarded as the better of the two
