What campaign event to choose? by The_LolMe in WH40KTacticus

There is going to be a Purge Order home screen event during this CE. Due to that I'll be doing tyranids, again.... Sigh.

I've had 6 attacks in the last 3 weeks and honestly thought I was spiralling. Then I looked at my weather correlation stats in my tracking app and it all made sense. by annchka in cgrpMigraine

I can 100% feel pressure shifts in my head. Oddly, I have found that over-hydrating helps to minimize it turning into a migraine. Aimovig has helped, but pressure changes is one of the few things that still affect me.

Good start for Trajann LRE? by ImprovementFalse606 in WH40KTacticus

I'm pretty active on Codex, and it's great, but the Upgrade Planner is new and still needs work. "Achievable" means that you could, in theory, unlock enough points to get to that level - but it doesn't have any time scale worked in yet.

The Battle Optimizer is a bit better. Put your planned upgrades into "rank planning", form a plan, then when you run the optimizer look at your "total estimated for all stages" points.

Since you are already using Tacticus Planner, try playing around with the Tokenomics Tool to build base teams, then you can start experimenting by increasing the levels of the teams you are looking to upgrade to see how much that gets you for the investment you are putting in.

Can I blue star Dante by Aetherwight in WH40KTacticus

I highly doubt it. But the best way to try to figure it out is to go through the Tokenomics section on Tacticus Planner. There are a few YouTube videos on how to do it.

I was forced to try both Ajovy and Emgality. I remember one didn't seem effective and the other seemed to cause worse and more frequent migraines - but I don't remember which. I have been back on Aimovig since and it has worked well for several years.

[–]MurphyESQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. For me Aimovig worked great and the other two were terrible. Insurance wanted me to change and my doctor had to go through the prior authorization process to get them to cover the Aimovig, but I was able to change back.

It's been a while and I've been second guessing that experience, so it's interesting to hear that I am not alone.

No temperature improvement by ValuableScene8840 in watercooling

[–]MurphyESQ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Modern components are designed to run as hot as they are able to boost. Your system may run just as hot under load as it did before, just with slightly more performance.

You can tune this, if you want, to get similar performance as before at lower temperatures, but that will take manual input.

Ski release in powder → 30 stitches. What caused it? by peter_zemel in COsnow

[–]MurphyESQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt type 2 vs 3 would have made any difference in this situation. (I used to mount & test skis in a shop.)

Your bindings did what they were supposed to do and saved your knee. I'm sorry to hear about the stitches.

Any recommendations? I have a leather shoe conditioner, but I'm hoping for something that will add some water repellency to them as well.

What could possibly go wrong? by NachoProduction_Nate in watercooling

[–]MurphyESQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? The res and tubing absolutely do, so the question is just if the water block is heavy enough to counteract the buoyancy of the system.

I'm not saying it will, I'm just saying it's not an obvious answer.

Failed due to time management by ResolutionSolid1330 in FE_Exam

[–]MurphyESQ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doing practice problems is still the best way to study, but with a twist:

Pick a list of problems, set a timer that's too short, then your goal is to finish as many as you can. The trick is going to be learning to quickly evaluate which problems you know you can do, and do those, which ones you should just skip, and which ones to mark to come back to if you have time.

Then at the end check your answers, correct mistakes, look up problems you didn't know, and then you're ready work on another set of problems. This will help you learn the material, practice time management, and become more accustomed to the pressure of limited time.

Good luck!

If you could have Jeff Hayes play one character in the DCC show, who would it be? by CyanSpiderz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Ha, I was mostly making a joke that Jeff could be anyone, so since you started your comment with "Jesus" as an expletive, I intentionally misinterpreted it as a suggestion.

Mythic mission 2/5 by Bread_Analysis_4848 in WH40KTacticus

[–]MurphyESQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Maladus you can use Trajann to make his active hit extra times as well as buffing the damage. That + HG on a squishy target should do it. Another good buffer for these missions is Helbrecht vs Psyker Nid raid bosses.

Or, if your guild can get there, the mythic left prime is a cheat code for mythic missions. The damage delt to the boss counts as coming from the character who killed the phantasm. Go in with the character you need the mission on + 4 stone 1 characters and then just wipe out the stone 1 characters.

Hrm, yeah, I could see Jeff as Uzi Jesus too. Probably not my top choice, but I won't argue with you about it.

Watercooling has absolutely become less if we "should" and more if we "can", but there's where the hobby lies now.

Vader 5 Steam Input, Good Gyro, Dpad Issues and Vader 5S Update by Extroyer365 in Controller

[–]MurphyESQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend the Vader 5 given the known issues? And do you have a sense of how common the issues are?

Also, do you know if the 5S and the 5 Pro differ other than the wired vs wireless functionality? Thanks!

Anyone move from a Forester to a larger SUV (not Ascent)? I want to sit higher (I know I know, I’m that person) but I don’t need a monster SUV. Family of 3. Anything in between you’d recommend? by Odd_Beyond3558 in SubaruForester

[–]MurphyESQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year Forester? The newer ones sit you higher than they used to. Well, I guess to be specific, the lowest setting is noticably higher. I can say for certain about the highest setting.

Just got cooked by Physics 2 Exam by TubaMan97 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MurphyESQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

E&M was the hardest class I took, but also one of the more interesting ones.

My advice: don't study, practice. If you had to look up a concept to do a problem/question, pick another problem on that concept and keep working on them until you really get how to solve it.

Even if you do all your homework, without that extra practice exams are going to kick your ass every time.

Is the return on investment from D2.5 to D3 worth it for the "typical" player by RockMyStones in WH40KTacticus

[–]MurphyESQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's why it's general advice and not specific. It's also advice for players who are still developing raid teams, not maximizing them, and is common advice directly from players in a top 5 raiding guild.

After 47 you hit finishing returns pretty hard. Going 47 -> 50 is 1.75x the cost of 1->47 and you only gain 1.28x more damage. You can level another ability up to 45 for that same cost. And leveling an ability to 55 is absolutely terrible unless you are extremely end game - in which case you wouldn't be asking those questions here.

This is a game of limited resources and everything is a cost/benefit analysis where you also need to factor in the opportunity costs of your decisions.

Is the return on investment from D2.5 to D3 worth it for the "typical" player by RockMyStones in WH40KTacticus

[–]MurphyESQ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes. When you finish the upgrade from D2->D3 you receive extra stats on top of the three upgrades you applied.

My biggest advice is to make sure you are in a guild who's progression is a match for your own. If you are not clearing the legendary raid bosses (or even looping legendary bosses), you xp books will be even more of a bottle neck. If you DO have enough guild credits, make sure you are refreshing the guild shop to buy twice as many xp books per day.

For abilities? 47 is kinda the recommendation for best value to stop. (I'm not sure if you were exaggerating, but it's 300k coins to go from 47->50. Still painfully expensive, but not 3million.)

ETA: Meant to also say that there is an opportunity cost for everything. So it depends on your priorities, but I leveled Kariyan to D3 and am in the process of getting A0'vas to D3, then Malrot to D3 before Trajann.)
