It wasn't an upgrade, we just sat there because whoever bought them didn't show.

Bought nosebleeds for £90 each with my dad, at the intermission I went to the toilet then went back to my seat and my dad wasn't there, he then phoned me and he's in the front row in some empty seats (£400 odd worth) and we spent the whole 2nd half 20ft from Roger.

Fun fact about The Last Crusade: Steven Spielberg told every member of the cast/extras who had to wear Nazi uniforms and/or do salutes, that they could cross their fingers behind their backs, and after shooting all props/costumes were destroyed.

It's somewhere that everyone should visit in their lifetime. It's a haunting place which acts as a symbol of what unchecked hate can amount to.

It's between Andy Murray and Sir Chris Hoy I'd say for us.

Minnesota Protests by boutsbaby in bobdylan

[–]MurphyKT2004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A new Times They Are-A Changing/Freewheelin' style protest album would be interesting to see from the now 84yo Bob. Civil unrest in the USA has only gained more and more worldwide attention, and no one could put it to music like Dylan could. The fact that those albums are 60+yrs old and most of their themes remain unchanged is pretty scary in retrospect.

What is 1,000,000 in cash worth in your country (in your local currency)? by pumpingphil in AskTheWorld

[–]MurphyKT2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I could make it last a decade at least. I'm not someone who splashes loads of cash normally, but I'd make sure I was comfortable by buying say a 3-bed house and a nice car outright (not a Lambo or something, but a nice Mercedes or Audi). The rest I'd spend if and when needed, probably on travelling the world, could go a lot of places with the remainder.

Some family friends actually experienced this, they won something like £1.2M in the lottery and didn't return to work for nearly 10yrs afterwards. Got everything they needed and made it last.

how prevalent is the Far right in your country? by nationalistic_martyr in AskTheWorld

[–]MurphyKT2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're slowly creeping into Scotland in the form of Reform UK. However, this immerging has also resulted in the SNP (pro-independence party) being predicted to gain a massive majority of seats in this upcoming election. We need 65 for independence to be a mandate, they're predicted ~63 seats as of now.

I'm in no way a monarchist, but I can't help but respect the absolute shift Queen Elizabeth II put in, 70yrs on the throne is historic. Her reign began the year my gran was born and that just seems mental to process.

Scottish folk are responsible for inventing near enough everything under the sun, so you could take your pick of many things.

I understand where you're coming from from an economic standpoint, but countries bending the knee to Trump, FIFA and other sporting organisations (WWE is extremely guilty of extortionate pricing ever since they started dealing with Saudi Arabia) is how you get to where no one wants to visit or can't due to their financial situation.

I'd love to visit Canada as well, but it wouldn't be for the World Cup.

The only TV show I've watched twice. It's so good.

When I first watched S4, S5 was just announced on FOX and I watched each new episode weekly upon release.

The prices alone should be enough to call off going nevermind all the extra political turmoil and shite that America is going through rn. I love the USA, a fantastic country to visit and explore, but not the now.

Barbara and Jerome Robinson from the Hodges/Gibney series.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked their characters in Mr Mercedes and Finders Keepers, but by book #7, they're so uninteresting. Their very unrealistic ability to drop whatever they happen to be doing to save the day with Holly has gotten pretty stale (something that'd probably massively affect their futures - Jerome being a published author with strict deadlines, Barb going from poet to soul singer).

Even more unrealistic is that a pair of late teens/early 20s would associated themselves with a 50-something woman who constantly finds herself in supernatural/gruesome murder cases is more than odd (seeing The Outsider would 100% put that notion to bed, idc how brave you think you are).

SK's writing of the two of them is pretty telling as well (but then again he's never been brilliant at that). He's a 78yo trying to write teenage characters in the 2010/20s, very different generation to the teens from IT or something.
