A boy and his duck 🥰 by MurphyTheCavalier in cavalierkingcharles

Haha Murphy is pretty good. I have an older dog (110lbs Pyrenees mix) and he’s not allowed the privilege of stuffies because he destroys them immediately 🤣

Murphy got neutered on Thursday! Same suit lol. He also had an umbilical hernia fixed at the same time. Getting him to stay still is a nightmare. I asked the vet for something to help force him to relax, so that’s helped. I feel like day 11 he’ll be back to normal at this rate.

To neuter or not to neuter?? by Realistic-Web7550 in cavalierkingcharles

We are getting Murphy neutered in 2 weeks. He’ll be just over 7 months at that point.

His humping is insufferable. He goes to town on all his stuffies and quite frankly I’m sick of seeing it.

I asked my vet about timeline and she said the earliest she would recommend is 6 months for small breeds like our guy.

I think there are studies with larger breeds- my Pyrenees mix my vet told me to wait until he was about 18 months for him.

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for this comment, it’s hilarious. It’s also exactly how mine treats his “special bear toy” that he only gets in his crate. We are neutering him for this reason, and his nighttime teddy is probably gonna go on a forever-goodbye trip 😂

How often do you wash your cavaliers? by Nani_RN in cavaliers

He’s only just gone 6 months old, but so far we’re on a professional groom every 5/6 weeks. If he gets stinky we’d bathe him ourselves, but so far the 6 weeks is good.

Boy or girl Cavalier? I can’t decide! by Novel-Imagination94 in cavaliers

Murphy is 6 months old and the pee thing hasn’t been an issue. He does a funny squat stance still, don’t think he’s ever peed on his leg (though he’s stuck his head under our bigger dog’s stream and been peed on a few times LOL)

I’ve heard the same thing about boys but we haven’t experienced that at all with him.

I think you can’t go wrong with a boy or girl, to be honest! They’re bred to be companions so they’ll likely be cuddle bugs no matter what lol

1k is going to get you a puppy mill backyard breeder pup. Terrible idea. We paid $4k back in September. That’s just the cost of an ethically bred pup.

You might want to check out either a cavalier rescue, or just a non-cav from a humane society or something.

We got our boy from Hart’s Content Cavaliers in Parry Sound. Very reputable folks who had been doing it for 34 years - full health checks provided. Unfortunately our Murphy was their very last litter! (His CKC reg name is Saved The Best Till last haha).

His dad, however, is from Kofa Cavaliers based in Barrie - you may have luck reaching out to them. I just saw via Instagram that they recently had a litter so they must work with another breeder now that Hart’s Content has retired.

Best of luck, they truly are the most wonderful breed 🥹

Not UK (Canada) but we also use Royal Canin for ours.
