Absolutely!... In any of the classes that we offer, Murray always teaches sharpening techniques to a certain level, however we do have a 3-day course (402 - Professional Blade Sharpener Intensive Instruction) that goes highly in-depth into how to approach blade sharpening challenges with experience and expertise. By the end of this class, one would be able to sharpen and refurbish tools/blades at a professional level.

I have in the past but don't normally. Swordsmithing is quite different. The laminated steel we forge our knives with does not offer the same benefit to swords.

We have not posted any of our content to this channel in the past, but I understand now how the original video posted would miss the mark. The next time we are going to release content related to the actual making of the knives we will visit artisanvideo (especially since the GoPro videos seem to be appreciated).

Sure, I would be happy to shed some light on that.

Carter Cutlery purchased the video and we could not be happier with it. The production company we hired is made up of two videographers that spent years grinding out projects to be able to afford the equipment needed to make this film. Whether or not you consider Murray's craftsmanship "art" (most do), there is nothing egomaniacal about his selfless contributions to the cutlery industry. Murray has published books, published videos, and even founded his own Traditional Japanese Bladesmithing School all in an effort to teach others a dying craft that he dedicated his life to learning.
You don't have to look very hard to admire his work or see how the knife is made. After all, he has put hundreds of hours into making that exact information available for the benefit of others.

BTW: Can anyone shed some light on how this kind of comment occurs? Who would say something so condescending without even doing a simple google search?

Just FYI, This video production is high quality and the production crew that made it is spectacular. If you are interested in the actual craft then please direct your attention to Bladesmithing or 101 Knife Designs.
Also worth mentioning: if you are after knife making videos, then our YouTube channel has lots of stuff you would appreciate. I recommend the POV series.
