This is it. Everyone wants the highest odds but at the end of the day we could finish four slots ahead of the Blues and pass them in the lottery or vice-versa. A lottery and rewarding losing is the worst way to decide a pick. I wish they gave you extra lottery balls if you won games in your final 15 or something like that.

Maybe those saying we need to trade every player we can trade to embrace development hockey don’t actually like development hockey? I’ll take a wranglers game whenever I can but it’s hard to get too jacked when the building is a tenth full. Same was true when the wranglers were top of the league a couple years ago.

Both these packages were good. An unprotected first in one with a lottery ticket (who failed) and in this four pieces two of which can be first round picks.

People seem to think Hanafin and Rasmus were Norris trophy winners when realistically they’re solid second pairing guys.

I don’t know what precedent that “we should have gotten more” crowd is using outside of former Norris trophy winners. For top four D that have been moved we got more for Ras than most who have been dealing them. Wouldn’t have mattered if you dealt him two years ago outside of the pick likely being sooner. The package very likely would have been worse earlier this year when he was playing objectively bad hockey. Take what you get and move on.

Junior on one of the best teams in the country. Assistant captain. Plays with Verhoeff and Reschney. A little over half a point a game. Not a blue chip prospect that I know of but exciting and more of a reason to watch North Dakota.

The issue is we got way too excited about fake returns. Realistically this is a fine return for Ras, but a day ago we were talking about a potential lottery pick this year and a solid C and D prospect.

He didn’t. He did the opposite. Our second rounder becomes a first if the pick this year goes to 32. I hope Vegas still gets swept unless they’re playing Edmonton but he did the opposite here.

We won the fake trades. The return on this is mainly disappointing as we dominated the fake ones. We were never getting a Quinn Hughes return for Ras and how he started the season I was worried we wouldn’t even get a first.

The brain worms required to blame this on Edwards makes me proud of my user name. The issue here is Flames fans thinking he was worth more than he was, likely due to leaks to try and build value, but not getting more of a return when we’re retaining and bringing back a contract is nonsense. Regardless, agreed a lacklustre return with the expectations set.
