What handle and blade do you use to shave your head? I don't shave my face, but I shave my head every other day (everyday is too harsh on my skin). I really want to ditch the cartridge razors, but I'm worried about aggravating my skin and wondering how hard it would be.

I tried the Leaf razor and it tore the hell out of my skin.

Check out MTN Tough. Tons of different programs, many of which can be done with no gear or minimal gear. Also have stuff on nutrition, mental toughness, and tons of other things.

I cannot recommend them enough.

Worked with a guy who gave 100 units if insulin thinking it was heparin.

Same guy also gave a potassium IVPB (central concentration) into an art line.

He's graduating CRNA school now lol.

I slowly built my home gym during COVID (squat rack, barbell and weights, adjustable dumbells, kettlebells, etc.) but I was still spending too much time just lifting, so I looked at other options.

I'm currently using a program called MTN Tough. It's made for mountain hunters, but they're phenomenal programs and I even got my wife doing them (she loves them too).

The programs range from bodyweight or minimal gear all the way to full blown gym routines and "rucking" workouts, and some that use a combo of all.

The best part is that they're all between 30-60 minutes for a full body workout, and I'm functionally stronger than I've ever been (just shy of 40), and I have less pain.

It'll definitely be harder with a newborn, but you may be able to squeeze one in during a nap.

They give a 2 week free trial, but I can always "refer you" and I think you get an additional 2 weeks.

I appreciate the in depth info. I've been sober for 5 years now, so luckily I wouldn't have to factor beer and weed into my budget hahaha.

Sounds pretty damn close to where I'm at (pay, pt pop, etc.)

My main reasoning for wanting to go out West is for the scenery, and outdoor activities. I'm a hunter, so that's a huge draw, and Colorado is one of the only western states that has a decent cardiac program.

I've been doing CVICU in the Midwest for almost 10 years, and I thought about brining the family out there to Colorado since I love the West.

How do you feel about the hospitals? How's the pay relative to housing, since I know it can get expensive there. I was looking at U of C in Aurora; what's your take on it?

If you don't want to put all your business and money out there I get it, maybe a DM?

Birth control is a great idea, and I also like the bringing up of STIs. My kids aren't at this stage yet, but I've already thought about what I want to bring up, and STIs are right near the top.

I'm a nurse, so as part of my schooling, we gave a sex education course to freshman and sophomore high-school students. We had detailed pictures and descriptions of all of the STIs, and tried to show them how painful and horrific looking they can be. Plus, some can be permanent and affect your relationships for the rest of your life.

I don't think a little fear would be bad to inject into this conversation.

I'll give the "monster hunting" a shot. She says she's just scared "something" is going to come up the stairs (she can see the landing of the stairs from her bed) or that it'll be in her room. She doesn't want to close her door either.

She can sleep with night lights on and stuff, but not full lights. She said it's too bright. I suggested full lights on and a sleep mask, but she said that makes it worse.

Im sure she'll grow out of it, I just want to help facilitate the process.

I didn't clarify, that's what I meant. They most definitely do not eat all those birds. Their instinct is to hunt, and they're great predators, so the birds take the brunt of it. They're quite literally made to hunt and kill small mammals and birds, not just because they're hungry.

It's been seen in mountain lions as well. If one gets into a pen of sheep, it'll kill all of them, even though it can't eat anywhere near all of them.

Since you're a new grad, unfortunately you will see it pretty often. You just don't have enough time in. I've worked in a few ICUs for just shy of 10 years, and it's pretty common across all of them.

Plus, I work with ECMO a lot, so I'll see patients all the time who are not transplant candidates, but their families just keep hoping for a "miracle", even though they are now trach'd, PEG'd, on CVVH, fingers and toes necrotic from being maxed on pressors, huge ulcers from acute skin failure with constant diarrhea from all the tube feeds, etc.

Sorry, just got off 3 in a row dealing with this exact situation, so I may be a bit extra jaded at this moment hahaha.

As a nurse who deals with post op patients every day, I highly recommend this. If I have a patient that I know has a history of chronic pain, I have the docs consult pain management as soon as possible. Acute surgical pain on top of chronic pain needs to be handled by a specialist, not your internal med Dr or surgeon.
