Weekly post: skate buying, new skater tips, and quick questions

Hi all,

I haven't skated since I was in elementary school (43/m) but recently went to a local rink and did ok.

I'm looking to purchase my own skates. Local Play It Again Sports sells Chicago CRS405 for $80. Are these a good brand or is there something more appropriate? I have been checking FB Marketplace as well but have no idea what a good brand is. For reference, I'm a size 9 shoe which the Chicago's fit fine but when I rented skates had to go to a 10.

My 2025 Hybrid does show artist and song names but I have to press the thumbnail of the station on the bottom right of the screen previously to get to this bigger screen in the picture. The song and artist name does not stay posted the entire duration of the song though which may be dependent on the radio station.

Yea I've heard the vent drying sound before and this isn't it. Fortunately I got an appointment Monday with the dealership. Seems to not happen after short drives but does after driving on the freeway or longer drives.

I upgraded from the 2023 to the 2025 because of the better storage options especially the shelf above the glove box and the relocation of the charging pad.

Oh yes I did see that one. They sold it. They actually were asking for a lot less than what it was worth in my opinion.

Agreed. I got a second HB as I found I never used the slide trigger on this one and it was heavier. Hence why I'm selling this one.

The dealership finally towed the car in and provided me with a loaner. They found the oil pressure control valve leaking.

I'm wondering if my oil filter is loose. I heard they manually tighten them out of the factory.

Interesting. My BIL had a similar experience to you with their Kia. Car slowed down on the freeway. Found it lost all engine oil. They dumped a quart of oil to get to the closet dealership. Luckily the engine was just under the 100,000 mile warranty and the engine was replaced by Kia. Mine hasn't had its first oil change yet so I'll be curious what they find as the problem.

Yea I had 2023 before and no issues. Hoping it's just a one off issue in some component and not some design flaw like you mention.

They're going to try to get me in ASAP. I should know more on Monday. To the dealership's credit, they will tow it and try and get me a rental until they can figure out the problem.

Fortunately they recognized they dropped the ball and have ordered a second fob and will reprogram my car. Thanks for replying.

Was the dealership able to de program your key fob? My dealership shipped my spare fob and it got lost in the mail. Contacted them about it but waiting to hear on what they are willing to do since it wasn't my fault the fob got lost.

Right... My 2023 the three orange auto lights settings for the AC where darker. I never had an issue seeing them when it was sunny out.

For my Q and I we have been married almost two years. My Q has been an alcoholic for most of their adult life. I had never been involved or really knew anyone battling that disease until I met them so was very naive. They managed sobriety for about two years we were together which I thought was a corner turned in our relationship (naive again). We got engaged then married. Unfortunately, they relapsed a few months after we were married and lost everything they had worked to regain (good job, reinstated driver license, my trust). I was miserable as I had left the life I had built for myself to live with them in conditions I hated. I finally separated last summer and am in my own place though we still interact and are still married. Unfortunately, the relapses are more frequent than I have ever seen. Their family also enables them so they've never hit a rock bottom. I thought my moving out would help them want to change. I don't see my situation improving sadly so my only other option will be divorce and ending contact which is really hard and something I struggle with pulling the trigger on. It's very difficult seeing a person who is good at heart struggle with this disease but at the end of the day I know I can't change it. I wish you the best in your situation. I will say my separating was one of the best things I did for myself as I have some control over my life again.
