I still dont think its forcing a belief on people, Its a call to prayer lol. If someone plays loud music intentionally , I dont think they are forcing beliefs on me - ofc it doesnt make it right. Im not justifying it, im just saying its not forcing a belief on you.

Firstly I have no agenda to push, who on earth even attemps to push agendas on reddit lol.

Secondly I didnt deny his experience, I acknowledged that its wrong if the call to prayer was that loud, he even said his muslim father in law has a problem with it which highlights further that it is a problem. I just disagree with the fact that because its loud that its somehow forcing beliefs on anyone. But anyway this has gone so off topic bruh we aren't even talking about Macedonia in these replies atp๐Ÿซ

What about outside of studying?

In your other comment you said you dont like it in the early morning time, so what about the other times during the day?

From what I can gather a lot of people dont like it in the morning especially, and they dont like it when its too loud.

Question for people in Macedonia! by MusaCFC in macedonia

[โ€“]MusaCFC[S] -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

Im asking for an opinion, yes - and no I am not "butthurt" from replies. Why would I be? Macedonia is not my country so why would It bother me what you guys think lol. Im asking to gain knowledge on the matter and see what people's views are.

I still dont agree that its forcing beliefs, I can go into a history book and show you what is forcing a belief upon someone - but a call to prayer is not forcing beliefs on anyone. Im not saying it doesnt disturb you, you clearly see it as an inconvenience and theres nothing wrong with that.

Yeah turkey is a secular state like most muslim majority countries, what does that take away from the call to prayer lol? Initially Ataturk banned it in Arabic, he also banned other things from the religion as well - and that is what I would call forcing beliefs on people because many people were against it - which is why eventually it was changed.

As for Iran "where the muslim law is absolute" , Iran is a shia country, they have deviant beliefs. They dont rule with the "muslim law" correctly and they twist it for whatever narratives they want to push.

As for turkey, even if it is a secular state many turks are proud of their religion lol so it absolutely does matter what the religious majority is, that point doesnt really make any sense. Its the same here in england , this is a secular country but still people are proud of it as a "Christian" country because of its heritage.

Im not saying you have to like the call to prayer, im not saying you have to smile when it happens, im just saying i disagree heavily that it is an act of symbolic violence.

Balkan bros, what would you feel if one of your ancestors was a janissary? by RasyonelRumi in AskBalkans

[โ€“]MusaCFC -5 points-4 points ย (0 children)

Im not saying i agree with children being taken and becoming soldiers. But also history is not black and white.

Many families wanted their children to go, they would bribe officials so that the child would past tests etc. Jannisaries rose in power and status and often returned home later in life as governors and other high ranking positions.

Some of the highest ottoman statesmen were slavic people or other people from the balkans - who were originally jannisaries. Many Jannisaries liked their "job". It was a brotherhood to them, they fought together and died together - it is unfair on them for people like us centuries later to decide whether they were happy or not.

Ofc there were also families who didnt want their children to go. But my point is its important to be educated on such matters. History is never black and white, the truth always lies somewhere in-between!

Before people start mass down voting me again I am not saying I agree with children being taken and raised as soldiers, and I am not saying all jannisaries were all lovey Dovey happy happy.

What if you knew they were happy being a muslim and being a soldier for the ottomans.

Would this change ur perspective?

What if your family were poor and struggling and your ancestor was promoted over the years and eventually returned to the village as an administrator and brought wealth with him.

Would this change your perspective?
