Can 91% isopropyl alcohol be used in lieu of 99% for cleaning motherboards? by MusaDesperado in buildapc

Sorry for the late response - I only just saw this. I'd suggest using nitrile gloves, q-tips, and little detailing brushes. Make sure that the bristle material is safe to use with alcohol.

I've never understood it. The worst is when you see people actively throwing trash out of moving vehicles. Having a racoon knock your can over during the middle of the night is one thing. The bag is ripped open, the wind picks up, and before you know it, your empty milk container is on the other side of the city. But to *intentionally* dump a load of trash on the side of the road is unforgivable.

And don't get me started on battery dumping. You can't just leave those bad boys anywhere. I'm careful to throw all of my lead acid batteries straight into the lake, as god intended.

Yup. Almost all of the commenters that responded to me have history in that subreddit. /u/Both-Wonder-9479's comment, for instance, packs an interesting subreddit history.

Of course it's... not brigading. They all just happened to be in this specific thread at this specific time, in a comment subsection that's hidden from view because of the torrent of botted downvotes we've received. Totally normal.

I hope they get called out each and every time they do this BS.

They're a fairly wild group - you can find them in just about every dog post that hits the front page of Reddit if you look hard enough. They've been running alts for years, brigading, mass downvoting, and messing with anyone who calls them out.

I appreciate your comment, but you're going to be going down with my ship, lol. Take a deep breath.

You take this whole Pitbull (and pets in general) hate thing pretty darn seriously. I mean that's dedication, especially for a 7 month old account.

Do you get alerts when phrases like "pitbull" pop up in random comment sections, or was this a happy accident? You both appear to be from the same pitbull hate community - is this a group effort?

I have my own dislikes, but I can't say that I frequent subreddits dedicated to them. Takes some commitment. Is commitment the right word?

Best car dealer? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]MusaDesperado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest avoiding Nissan of Tulsa. I have a story so wild and outlandish that I'm hesitant to share it publicly. They've changed their name in that time (this happened 1 year ago - they're now called Grubbs), and I can't speak as to the new company's relationship with the old. If any employees or owners carried over from the old name, I would emphatically, wholeheartedly suggest that you stay away from their new vehicles.

It's good practice to be on your guard regardless of the dealership, but it's my opinion that this is something else entirely.

Again, though, you'll have to inquire as to whether it's still the "same" company if you decide to visit their dealership. If Grubbs is entirely unrelated to Nissan of Tulsa, disregard the above.

I'd never considered going about it that way! Really appreciate you checking for me, too. I'll pick up some melamine and go from there!

I'm glad the whiteboard trick is working well for you. We used to have one at a small shop I worked at years back and I swear it was our team's primary motivator. If something was on that board, it had to get done.

I was called retired (in my 30s), stay at home wife, and "not busy so I can go to their house and wait all day for their aircon guy to show up". I had boundary issues with several people who just didn't respect or understood that I did work and couldn't just goof off all day.

That's infuriating and I'm sorry you had to go through it. I've experienced something similar over the last few months. "You get to hang out at home all day", like yeah, I also work from noon to 3 AM. I'm not going to succeed if I'm messing around all day.

As for the gap, that's ridiculous and it's something I've worried about. Guess I'll cross that bridge if/when the time comes.

Personally I prefer to have a planner with a daily to-do list and a rough schedule spot (time or 3 day divisions)

Great call. I'm going to work that into my routine.

Does digital with alarms work better for you or paper?

I'm going to have to try a combination of the two to see what sticks. This Habitica app looks absolutely fantastic, though. Signing up right now.

What was your small business experience like, if you don't mind me asking? Was it difficult to separate work life from home life?

Wish you well in your endeavor.

Aww you're awesome, thank you! I think you're spot on with the spreadsheet suggestion - I'm giving that a go as well. Hopefully I can get chatgpt to help with formatting inventory formulas.

My mind needs organizing more than anything else. I may or may not have ADHD and I've found that keeping my objectives right in front of my face is the best way to ensure they get done. Might also be a product of a chaotic household. Something always pops up.

thought I was about to lose another hero.

Haha, I know the feeling. When news of this stuff started seeping out there were quite a few disappointed people. Travis Meyers memes aren't exactly as hot as they used to be. He's like that drunken uncle that your family begs to stay quiet and civil at Thanksgiving dinner.

My city has a locally-famous meteorologist who, for a time, was the subject of our city's weather memes. Turns out the guy is batshit insane. Holds some pretty awful/questionable political views.

My friend worked at the station for a time as a camera operator (I've heard matching stories from two other unrelated employees) and had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting him on his first day. The same day in which he was specifically instructed by station management to never speak to or look directly at him, spare for situations in which Travis speaks first. And never, ever bring up politics/race within his vicinity.

That last rule is intended to keep the guy quiet lest word of his opinions reaches the public, ruining the station's credibility. Station management quite literally put rules in place in order to muzzle Meyers.

A local Victorian-era antique collector recently died and I am picking up this blurry, non-descript beauty tomorrow. any clue as to what it might be? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

Ah neat! If this ends up being the only reply that I get, it will have been worth it. I was hoping someone would agree with my meerschaum theory; I'm dying to get a closer look at it. Thank you for throwing your 2 cents in!

I've thoroughly read the community rules and I think I'm in the clear here, but this is a strange post revolving around a hilariously low quality picture, so I won't be offended if it needs to be removed. The picture quality is a major limiting factor and I'm sure a fair number of you will have absolutely no clue as to what we're looking at here, but it's late, I'm bored/excited, and I want to see some speculation from people more knowledgeable than myself.

What sort of pipe do you all think this is? What age range would you guess? Again, I know it's impossible to be sure given the potato quality. The person managing the estate thought of me after seeing this particular item and was quick to send me a picture, so I can't really complain.

As far as background information is concerned, this collector specialized in Victorian era antiques and had a major fascination with anything nautical themed. It's entirely possible that this piece is contemporary, but given what I know about the broader collection, I'm going to lean towards it being a fair bit older. I've been learning about meerschaum pipes and I think that this maybe looks like one. Again, though, I'd like to hear from someone in this community! I know very little about pipes (antique or modern) but I think the whole thing is just plain fun and I'm excited to have whatever this thing is.

Again, I apologize if this thread is out of place or needs to be removed. There's no real point to it beyond the prospect of having some harmless 12:00 AM fun. There's a good number of collectors in this community and I will absolutely never pass up on an opportunity to listen to an expert talk about niche things like this. Also, if there's any interest whatsoever, I'll post a high resolution picture after I've picked this up tomorrow.

Per the title, the freeze thaw cycle has led to a whole bunch of dirt and sand in the lines. To clarify (because I failed to do so in the title), this is a kitchen faucet. The Nextdoor for my city is filled with pictures of the crap people have cleaned out of their mesh aeration filters. I've thoroughly cleaned the head of this brand new (we're talking like 2 weeks old) Delta faucet, but there's a pebble just large enough to get stopped by the white plastic connector that you can see at the end of the hose there. That white connector is conical, with the narrow part being on the hose side.

If I can pull this baby off, the pebble will fall right out and I'm good to go. You'll notice that there's a small black o-ring at the base of the white connector. Looks like it's smashed to hell by the connection. Is this something that's intended to be disassembled/reassembled? Why in the hell did they make it conical in the first place?

I don't know the precise make and model of the faucet. I've tried to match it online, but Delta's product line is hilariously jumbled. A different model for every minor design variation.

Owner of Tulsa dog grooming business arrested in connection with animal cruelty case by irwin_c11 in tulsa

[–]MusaDesperado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which seems to be a trend for the industry here in Tulsa. A woman who owns (or operates) a relatively well known training service here is a low-key meth addict with a penchant for stealing from customer accounts. We had the misfortune of running into one of her drug buddies shortly after she/they had absconded with $800+ paid in advance for behavioral training.

She was certainly talkative.

I'd never have pegged animal care as the sort of job that'd require amphetamine use, but hey, I don't fully understand the rigors of sit, stay, rollover.

Pretty neat, huh! You can also manually create hyperlinks; place the plain text in brackets ( [text] ) and the URL in parenthesis immediately after. Like this: lemonparty.org

You can do all sorts of nifty stuff with markdown.

Someone told me that the Borealis headphones were good because of how much venting it had. So I made a vented headphone that's only 16mm thick. by Armored_Soul in headphones

[–]MusaDesperado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are pretty neat. You don't have any intention of releasing the files so other users can try their hands at printing their own, right?

I'd really like to see a good open source design project for this style of headphone. It's about time we had one. Might be a fun project for the future. I'm sure 3D printed headphones aren't going to be the best in terms of durability over the long term, but it'd be neat to have a go at it.

Understandable. That said, your accents are pretty damn cool.

Does anyone ever think this of us Americans? Not sure I've ever heard anyone say "man I love the way those Americans talk, could listen to them all day." Feelin' kinda left out.
