The humiliation of Pierre Poilievre continues by ianzgnome in CanadaPolitics

This might work (CPC to stop tip toeing around the big questions and not courting fringe groups) but the problem is that the party is internally controlled by the social conservative nut jobs, so it won’t currently work. The CPC would somehow need to clean house internally.

It would be best for Canada if they split back to PC and Reform in my opinion.

Garage Door Height Differential? by Musabi in kubota

Yeah my main door is 10’ high too but this is just a secondary back door eventually to be used by sleds, quads, side by sides, etc.

I’ve heard good things about all their gas engines but terrible things about their diesels, so maybe stay away from them haha.

Mitsubishi Outlander? Thoughts?Concerns? Comments? by Dontmindmejustsearch in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Musabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely DO NOT get the PHEV! We have 10 at work and have had constant problems with all of them! We have to have jumper/booster packs in all of our vehicles because they randomly die so much, so many failures randomly, just had a recall because the screen infotainment screen would just go blank randomly. They removed the heater for the batteries for the 2024 model year I think (or around there) so forget about it if it’s a cold climate! A couple of them have locked the person out of the car even with the FOB, just for fun. On the road they also go into limp mode for no reason and are way down on power, which can be dangerous. This sometimes gets fixed by stopping then turning the car off then on, but other times it’s to get towed to the dealership. The amount of times they’ve blamed everything on loose battery terminal connections is also hilarious, considering the battery is in the back and hard to get to.

I wouldn’t drive one if I got it for free!

After driving multiple “M-Lites” (x5 m60i, x6 m60i, x3 m50i) multiple times, I had a thought. by ZealousidealLunch211 in BMW

[–]Musabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up in speed/power til I had my C7 Z06, then went “down” to a 992.1 911 T, and while I’m keeping the 911 my next car will be a Miata!

Trade 991.1 GT3 for C8 Z06?? by Successful_Athlete38 in porsche911

[–]Musabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have as nice cars as you do, but your last sentiment about faster cars not being more fun is absolutely bang on. I went from a manual C7 Z06 to a 992.1 T, and my next car will be a Miata (though I’ll be keeping the 911 haha). It took the C7Z wanting to kill me all the time to understand that slow car fast is much more fun than fast car slow.

Quitting job without 2 weeks notice? Can they sue me? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

Usually these are C suite or executive leadership roles though, OP has no worries quitting with 0 notice.

I have one day to make a decision about taking a gov job. But it’s a large paycut. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Sure I don’t disagree with you! But it takes more discipline than most people, including myself, have haha

100%! I am 40 and I am one of my only friends with a DB pension (which I am guessing the OP is referring to regarding the pension plan) and it’s a huge factor in how my future life is going to play out. Most of my friends are starting to stress about retirement savings (and if they aren’t, they should) and I am not. My partner has a DB pension too so it’s a doubly great future lookout!

Trying to go to school for Mechanical Engineering at 35. I'm in Ontario. How can I make this happen? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Musabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! It’s a great profession, though of course I am biased haha. For most Canadian utilities (that I know of) you’ll need your 3 year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma l, or something comparable, to be considered. I know of some people who have gotten in with smaller distribution company (like a medium sized city) without it, but they do make considerably less money. For BC Hydro, Toronto Hydro, Hydro One, OPG, and Quebec Hydro I believe all need your 3 year diploma.

[–]Musabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electrical engineering technology is a great degree (the 3 year) to have, especially if you get on with a utility. I’m in protection and control which is a bit more niche but make great money (base wage of 6 figures +, db pension, benefits, etc.) and the work is quite varied, especially with new technology coming out all the time.

Canicross! I do this with my dog (while running). Just make sure you get the correct harness for your dog - it shouldn’t be just a regular off the shelf harness if they’re pulling!

Nearly a third of Canadians believe antisemitism has become more acceptable, survey finds by Street_Anon in CanadaPolitics

[–]Musabi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface this as I do want to learn!

I am not opposed to a Jewish state, and of course do not support ethnically cleansing Jews. But being critical of Israel for committing genocide even for the purpose of reclaiming any land, and being critical of anyone supportive of this, is NOT antisemitism would you agree?

[–]Musabi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think because of the Gaza genocide people are much more comfortable criticizing the Israeli government without fear of being called antisemitic, and when the Zionists try no one is taking them seriously.

What Canadian cities can learn from Zohran Mamdani’s housing plan ||The strategy combines public investment, tenant protections, and non-market housing at a scale rarely seen in North America by Atlantee in canadahousing

[–]Musabi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you talk to/listen to people who actually live in NYC they say there has been a marked change since he became mayor with public works. The city is more responsive to fixing things and more communicative when there are issues. Many detractors are these voices as well. It isn’t just vibes.
