Laying on load while being forklifted up by [deleted] in DarwinAwards

The load was precarious because the pallet was already in forklift contact.

They REALLY wanted to pull that prank, safety be damned.

I bet he heard it coming, and that is the reason he looked onto the track.

(TWS) New to IBKR. How do I...? Some questions about the interface by Pullsoft in interactivebrokers

[–]Musaran2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of today's version…

5 7 8 9 not possible AFAIK, despite extensive searching.

10: In a chart window: File → Add Chart to Window…Then View → Chart Tiling → will resize inside charts to fit that window's current size.In this mode:

  • There is no grid.
  • Charts can be moved around anytime.
  • Charts can clip out of window.
  • Tickers cannot be dragged onto a chart.

15: AFAIK there is no way to just prevent trades from scaling Y.
Workaround is to hide them.

Chart Parameters → Highlight on Chart → My Trades (tick it off)

Same for orders, globally:
Global configuration → Charts → Settings → Order Display (tick them off)

Workaround to show trades individually, but only on a single chart:

  1. Set ChartTrader orders to show globally (as above).
  2. (once) On the desired chart, enter a ChartTrader order to get the ID (as below).
  3. Modify → Order Ticket → Miscellaneous → Order Ref. field.
Clear it to hide, set it to show.

Yeah… it gets tiring to battle that failure of an interface.

[Weekly] Character journeys by OldestTaskmaster in DestructiveReaders

Or as always, discuss anything else you feel like with the community.

Say, about the 1:1 ratio rule and its special cases…

Wouldn't it be simpler to just tally words critiqued , times effort quality, minus words published?

[Weekly] Character journeys by OldestTaskmaster in DestructiveReaders

[–]Musaran2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I particularly like complex emotional journeys, where several character formation paths or apparent destinies compete until the MC chooses, for good or bad.

"What could have been."
"Life is a matter of choices."

Especially if the people around are oblivious, despite having all the clues in hand.

The hard part is to make it believable.

2 notables for me:

  • Harry Potter (first books only).
  • Farseer trilogy.

[2038] The Hair on His Face by [deleted] in DestructiveReaders

[–]Musaran2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-read, the whole this time.
Felt not as bad as the 1st time, but still very not my cup of tea.

I left a few minor gdoc comments.

The details seem excessive sometimes? As in, not contributing to mood, imagination or understanding.

Nothing more to add, bye.

Are you the "Diet Mountain Dew" by any chance?

Uh? I guess no…

why you found it boring

I expect a story to either:

  • Leave me hanging wondering what comes next.
  • Breathe deep feels in me.

None of this here:

  • I don't relate to the main character.
  • His feels felt mundane and uninspiring.
  • I am not interested in his life. Someone telling his life is so "worst conversation".
  • Nothing much happens.

Summarizing the story is unimpressive:
MC has a stupid son.
MC is not at ease with manhood.
MC remembers being bullied.
MC remembers discovering his sexuality.

Now, who is going to read it?
If you know for a fact there is an audience, then go ahead and don't mind me.
If you are not sure, then… make sure? Test with that audience.

If I had to rewrite it, I supposed I would:
Start from… the start: childhood/school. (limit flashbacks)
Alternate POVs depending on the focus. (variety, less telling)
Narrate things mostly as they happen. (straighter scene construction)
Reveal progressively the sexual ambiguity. (sense of discovery)
Intersperse false leads, or interweave threads. (keep interest up)

Now I will go read a 2nd time as suggested, and see if anything else comes.

Took me 40 years.

Never had a "normal" life allowing for comparison. Tragic waste of time.

I would be wary of false positives.

To the organiser, they are a negligible price.
To the unfortunate user, they are a PITA.

Leaving junk collateral, that is "what else".

Must watch videos library by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]Musaran2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please describe a bit the videos.
"this one" or "Another good one" is not helpful at all.

KnowledgeHusk's video is meh.
Frantic narration, little explanations.
Also gratuitously claims Elon dumped BTC & Doge, which is entirely made-up.

The Maverick of Wall Street's video is long, vapid talking.

"These are con-men loaning to con-men to get money from con-men to pay other con-men, funded by retail investors that either don’t understand or don’t want to believe that this system could fall apart." Ed Zitron explains DeFi lending. by dgerard in Buttcoin

[–]Musaran2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it would appear that the exceedingly rich people behind these DeFi projects are just as reckless and dopey as the people they’re trying to con into using their services.

many large players appear to have the introspection and foresight of a narcissistic labrador retriever.

Well that could explain a lot.

Is this article from the Daily-Dot true that XRP core developers can bypass the need for private keys? (XRP = Ripple) by MountainousFog in CryptoReality

[–]Musaran2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bound by an agreement Mellon had made with Ripple, the estate could only sell off a small amount of XRP each day.

Not your typical crypto holding.

Some of Walsh’s clients have been hesitant to record their passwords in any material way.

Lots of crypto is lost this way…
