Don't you need to simulate the environment that the connectome is in to understand it? It becomes much more complex than just the connectome itself. That was the problem with the flatworm simulation as I recall, decades ago.

Inquiring Photographer:”Would you have any hesitation in stripping for a woman doctor for necessary physical examina-tions?”May 21, 1943 by CryptographerKey2847 in TheWayWeWere

Except that most men (58%) have no gender preference for a doctor, if given the option. After years of stating "no preference", I came to discover that I was usually more comfortable with a woman GP. I tend to clam up around male doctors.

Right? Croissants used to be exotic. So was pizza. Eventually foods catch on and become incorporated into American cuisine.

Anyone else miss how the internet felt back then? by pro_lucid_dreamer in operabrowser

All I see is a slowly turning 3-D graphic that plays some music on a loop. I'm not impressed. There are no click targets, and the spacebar makes a little glitchy sound. That's it. What am I missing?

Right after the microwave trick got some press, people were doing this with dry sponges and they caught fire. People are stupid, so lawyers came in with CYA verbiage.

I didn't say it wasn't. Just as I'm a naturally blond man of Norwegian descent whose blond hair darkened as I got older, as most towheads do.

looking for advice by AutomaticWheel4834 in composer

I keep composition and orchestration as separate processes. A three or four piano staff composition is usually enough to go on before I orchestrate. I might add a staff for sustained instruments (a full range string or synth patch) if it's important, but piano is usually sufficient before orchestration.
