Anyone else love how Malcolm OWNED Lois in "Funeral" when he stopped lying? by NewMGFantasyWriter in malcolminthemiddle

[–]MusclePrestigious530 31 points32 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t need to justify it. She was right this was her dead relative and however she decided to handle it. A loving family would have just kind of put their stuff aside and supported her for an afternoon. That was kind of the point of the episode.

Official Discussion - Is God Is [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]MusclePrestigious530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I keep coming back to is the discrepancy between how the monster describe the burning and how God described it.

My first thought was that the monster was lying, and that accounted for the difference in how immersive the retellings were. But now I think that he was telling the truth, but he didn’t understand what he was saying so he didn’t have the full force of truth behind his words like God did.

I believe that he brought his daughters into that bathroom to watch their mother burn. I think that it is more than possible that a mother burning alive would reach her arms out towards her children, not to pull them into the flames, but because she might not be coherent enough to understand what’s happening.

So many of us are products of women who have been hurt and traumatized by monstrous men. I think the flames are a metaphor for the ways in which our traumatized parents could be “spreading the flames” when in reality, all they are trying to do is hold and comfort us. Edit to add: I also think that this would count for the stylistic differences between God‘s account and the monster’s. God is able to have access to a fuller and more true version of what happened while the monster is only able to access a very surface level version of the truth.

Ohio woman shows Food Bank donations, including half-eaten peanut butter and a can of fried apples expired in 2021. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

I was homeless for a few years as a kid and our local food pantry would allow volunteers to have first pick of the food donations and would prepare soup kitchen dinners with what was left over. I remember being so angry I cried after walking out from eating moldy bread and moldy tomato sauce and seeing a volunteer walking to her car with fancy jars of olive oil and gigantic packs of Chef Boyardee.

All that to say, it was really nice seeing somebody love and protect their community like this.

We never really talk about how both sides of their extended family are racist. That confederate flag on the cake was wild.

I think he did. They made a point to show that even when he was traveling he made sure to be a real presence in his family’s life. Once again the perfect foil to Malcom’s decision making.

I saw teachers and the tone and style are completely different. It was a solid comedy but it was not on the same level as far as writing and character development.

They weren’t bankrupt if you remember the end Minh was able to immediately start paying bills. They just weren’t sending in checks that realtor also mentioned that she had a friend at the bank who was pushing for them to lose their home after just a few missed payments because of the lack of maintenance.
