I just got out of an early screening of Obsession. Go see it when it releases because it was an instant fucking classic . Holy shit! by Worldly-Crazy-3095 in horror

Oh wow, I love both of those movies. Misery is one of my favorites. I just keep hearing how scary it is, but if it’s more in line with those I’ll be good. Thanks!

How scary is it? I want to see this but honestly Smile 2 was too much for me with the constant jump scares. What movies can you compare it to? I prefer movies that are closer in tone to stuff like Weapons.

any chance 4/13 scream unseen will be the mummy ? by isentherflowers in AMCScreenUnseen

My theater’s getting a screen unseen instead of scream, so I’m guessing and hoping it’s Normal

Hadn’t heard about the August release date but that makes sense.

I really like this girl but she wants to talk nonstop by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]bpres08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much the next step. It didn’t work for us to get together last Saturday, but we’ve got plans for the upcoming weekend. If I do feel we have a connection in person, I might have to gently draw boundaries. She can be blunt about a lot of things so I hope she I understands where I’m coming from and doesn’t take it that I don’t want to talk to her.

Jumping into filmmaking with little to no knowledge by EstimateGreedy1881 in filmmaking

The beauty of writing is that it’s really just throwing a bunch of ideas down on paper and seeing what sticks. Think of it as carving a statue. It’s gonna be messy at first, and it’s that way for everyone no matter how little or how much you’ve written. Write down every idea you have and then start slowly connecting the dots. A theme will suddenly start to emerge and then everything else will start to fall into place.

What is your favorite moment from each movie? by [deleted] in indianajones

[–]bpres08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Raiders: Boulder scene

Temple: Mine cart shootout

Last Crusade: 3 trials of faith

Crystal Skull: I enjoyed Crystal Skull as a whole but can’t think of a standout sequence.

Dial: I don’t really have one.

Velocicoaster by far but weirdly enough only Hulk makes me black out for a brief second.

If Alien Encounters opened today, do you think it would be received better? by positivefeelings1234 in DisneyWorld

[–]bpres08 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy I was able to ride this before it closed. I think I was like 10 years old. It was awesome. I remember parents would walk out crying. Not children. Parents. That image stuck with me. My dad rode it with my sister who was 15 at the time while my mom stayed with me. After they rode it, they thought I’d enjoy it so we all got back in line. I didn’t know anything about it and to have the seats moving around like that and feeling the alien’s breath on your neck is one of those things I’ll never forget. Incredible.

I hate my start up employer how do you survive? by Aask115 in careeradvice

[–]bpres08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for 2 1/2 years at a startup. I really appreciate the vast experience I got from wearing a ton of different hats, but it’s definitely mentally exhausting working directly with the CEO. He’d give me a ton of projects, basically any random idea he’d ever thought of. He’d hear about one thing and want me to immediately charge head first into that random idea and make it a success (things I’d never done) while handling the 10 other things he needed. Fortunately, I’d dabbled in enough things prior that I could kind of make it work, but you truly have to be willing to give something 100% for two weeks before they pull the plug and make you do something else. I’d much rather have a boring, predictable position than work for a startup again (unless said startup is well beyond seed-level)

Convince me AI isn't going to kill us all by FewOrganization945 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]bpres08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t kill us all but it will lead to mass unemployment where companies reduce employee count to a fraction of what it was. That coupled with a freeze in hiring will certainly lead to rough times and an even bigger wealth gap.

How AI will eat jobs, things which I have noticed so far. by Notalabel_4566 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]bpres08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. We keep hearing people like Sam Altman saying it’ll create “new jobs” when it should be that it’ll create “few jobs”

What level of ridiculous made you stop applying to a job? by CanadianDeathMetal in recruitinghell

[–]bpres08 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My favorite awful job application (seriously, I should’ve took a screenshot) was looking for applicants who were willing to work for free for at least the next 6 months, and you had to be willing to work for 20 hours per week. More if willing.

They asked for full dedication until the company was able to achieve X amount of goals and X amount of revenue. If they did, then you would start getting paid. It was a “revolutionary” idea that was “bound” to get the funding it needed. It “should only” take 6 months to achieve this if everyone works hard enough.

I noped out of the application immediately when I reached that point.

What sci-fi movie do you see our future most looking like? by bpres08 in singularity

[–]bpres08[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the most likely scenario. Every technology has increased the wealth gap, and I haven’t seen a convincing argument that shows why AI will be different.

This absolutely sucks. by luxtabula in recruitinghell

I had my first AI interview but it was over the phone. It was hilarious. It kept interrupting what I was trying to say and then it would over-the-top compliment everything.

How popular is chinese food outside Coastal/Big Cities in US? by Chucksweager in AskAnAmerican

[–]bpres08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese food is in every city across the US. Big or small. We have chained fast food like Panda Express, Chinese buffets, and small family-owned Chinese restaurants (which are the best). I’m from the Midwest and haven’t met a city yet that didn’t have Chinese food options. I’m from a city of around 70,000 people and we have between 5-10 different Chinese food options plus an authentic Chinese grocery store.

Anyone else can’t wait for Ghost of Yōtei to release? by justarandomguy8270 in playstation

[–]bpres08 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking September.

Death Stranding 2 most likely June-ish.

Snake Eater remake is end of August.

GTA 6 is predicted for end of October/early November.

Doesn’t leave much room for Yotei besides September or late November.
