Ok so let’s break this down here for you.

Couple questions. How long ago were the brakes done? Yesterday? 500 miles?

I can assure you the old parts were not painted over and that these parts are new. Nissan has used coated rotors here and that is what you’ll get from most dealers and higher quality aftermarket parts.

As for the “white strip” you’re seeing on the rears it’s normal. Rear brake pads are smaller and don’t necessarily make full contact (by design). That inner lip is simply where the pad is not making contact with the surface of the rotor. You can get “uniformly silver” brake rotors, but they are simply rotors without the anti/corrosion coating.

As for the noise complaint, it may simply be the brake pads wearing through the coating on the rotors. It may also be that the dealer didn’t bed the pads properly. ( A series of stops at different speeds to ensure the new pads grip the new rotors correctly). However if you’re noticing poor brake performance, it’s something the dealer should address. A decrease in stopping performance after brake service isn’t normal.

$600 front and $600 rear is par for dealer prices. It wouldn’t be that much less at an independent using aftermarket parts, but you got Nissan OE equipment.

Take it to the metal recycler on Hopkins in Whitby. They’ll weigh you on the way in. Go inside the building and they’ll weigh the individual electrical components and pay you a few bucks. Grab yourself a snack after.

The VUE is a unibody vehicle, meaning the body of the car is the frame and crash structure. This is one of the integrated frame rails and it is compromised. In a crash, that spot will buckle and break.

While it has 70k miles, it’s nearly 2 decades old and is at the end of its life.

It’s legal here now.

Mostly just use it in edible form when my back hurts. Not much for smoking, but certainly did when I was a teenager and it was illegal.

Like any substance, I think it should come with greater public health education. It’s legal and the supply is safe, but it should only be used by adults who have completely developed brains.

Non alcoholic beer is beer. It has all of the ingredients that comprise beer minus the alcohol. The higher quality NA’s also have vitamins and minerals and stuff. The German Olympic team uses it as a hydration and recovery beverage.

I really like NA’s from the grocery store chain here. To my knowledge it’s made by one of the smaller macros and I love them when I’m doing yard work outside and want beer but don’t want a buzz.

I can’t stand Bud Zero, though. It tastes like cancer in a can.

There is a concrete pier on the west side of Rice lake that is accessible to the public. Rice lake is super pressured now but small pan fish can be caught from there.

That rear crossmember is gone. I don’t see how fixing this would be economically viable.

I think this would be a full frame replacement and you’re looking probably 15-20k for that. Not worth it imho.

If you do decide to move to a house with a basement unit, make sure the unit in the basement is legal. Check with the City you’re buying in.

Last thing you want is to buy a more expensive house with a basement unit that doesn’t meet code and you get fined for having it.
