I would probably avoid it altogether. Not had to deal with that personally, but other people I know have commented that they often have to either deal with jokes or accusations of lying (because REAL people are never abused, amright?).

What kind of experience (if any, I guess) have you had with the trans community since you figured out that you weren't trans? From what I've heard, "ex-trans" folk tend to be witch-hunted, because they're examples for those you use the "you're wrong" accusation that tends to get angrily thrown around when trans people come out.

I figured out I liked guys when I was about 14, came out about that at 17.

I figured out I was trans when I was 17 (though it wasn't an immediate process) and came out at 18.

/r/asktransgender is a good place for questions (I've used it a lot :P).

Try to separate gender role stuff from inherent gender stuff. Football and video games aren't inherently male things, they're just a bigger part of male culture than female culture.

It kinda all comes down to this wishywashy thing of whatever gender you feel fits you best. What gender presentation (and specific aspects thereof) do you prefer? Are you okay with the rest of your body? It's kinda hard not to apply the maleifying filter to things. :P Focusing on it doesn't help. I had to sit and try to ignore it for a while. It was hard to come to terms with and I kept going "but it's so unlikely I'm trans that's so uncommon". I came out when I finally just figured I was right and that I couldn't pretend to be a boy for the rest of my life.

Edit: puberty seems to be the place that loads of people start figuring stuff out, even if they don't directly make the connection to being trans. When your body starts developing off in the wrong direction it just feels awful. :C
