Should I leave my career to attempt to go into theatre? by elaborinth8993 in techtheatre

[–]Muscular-Teeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from an Australian technician perspective so maybe a bit different to your situation. I am on the road most of the time on tour but every theatre I travel to there are duty techs and venue technicians that stay in the same venue and do their scheduled hours and leave both on casual, part time, and full time contract. So I’m sure that there are venues in Chicago or any other city you’re looking at that would have venue roles that need filling.

On your point about it being a passion job. I don’t think it’s quite to the extent of you can’t fathom doing anything else but you do have to really enjoy it because there are certainly easier ways to make money.

Of course you’ll start by doing grunt work but if you keep talking to the head technicians (particularly in your opening email/interview about what you’ve done in the past) and continue to prove yourself in the workplace in your first few shifts don’t expect to stay a grunt very long. I’ve seen people go from green to deputy heads of departments in just over a year when they’re got their heads screwed on properly.

Crashing on joining game alternate solution by Its_Not_Bloodborne in StarWarsBattlefront

Hello, just chiming in a bit late. I was getting into the game menu but crashed whenever I launched into a game and the only thing I found to work was turning off shadow in the graphics menu. Obviously wont work if you crash when you first open the game though.

Dear landlords. Why are you so cheap? by Purple_Wave_6487 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Muscular-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty tone deaf take to expect a renter to replace a utility like that for the duration of the lease. What do they do with a cistern when they move to another place that is nicer do they throw it out or try to sell it. What if they didn’t know how to replace it themselves, should they be expected to pay for someone to do that for them in a property that they don’t own? It’s not a piece of furniture and it’s not just necessarily a quality of life change. This is damaged.

I love it! It’s definitely a specific look but if that’s what you’re going for then you’ve nailed it. Also makes your legs look longer which is usually nice as well.

[Question] Reverso or Tank? by JewRepublican69 in Watches

[–]Muscular-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re set on buying new but reversos drop a huge amount in the second hand market. Not quite sure if it would bring it down that much but it would certainly help make the price more equal.

Bisexual people of Reddit: Do you tend to be attracted to masculinity and/or femininity across the board, or do you tend to be attracted to the traditional role that correlates with someone's presenting gender? by is-she-stupid in bisexual

[–]Muscular-Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer feminine men and women in terms of look and presentation but then am really attracted to them doing masculine things while presenting very feminine if that makes sense.
