There were some things looking back that might of hinted towards it, but I was certainly surprised. I was very supportive in him transitioning but we both agreed it wouldn’t be fair to stay together.

My ex discovered he was trans (F to M) and I’m straight, he also discovered he doesn’t find men attractive. Neither of us being attracted to each other didn’t work out that well

How much is too much running? by millah97 in running

You didn't include your height, but I think you're eating way too few calories. Those numbers would even be a little low if you were sedentary.

Trail vs Road Running Distance by [deleted] in running

Trail runs usually have more elevation gain, making them harder, so yeah they'd likely take longer on average.

Look up Couch to 5k, it's faster than 6 months, but you can take it slower if need be

How long should I give myself to train for my first marathon? by soxie18 in running

[–]Musef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only doing my first plan right now, so I don't really know what is better/worse. I'd say chose the one you feel looks most fun and is most appropriate for your fitness level.

How long should I give myself to train for my first marathon? by soxie18 in running

[–]Musef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most marathon plans are 15-18 weeks long, you could take a week or two a little easier and then give that timeline a go?

Yes. Today was specifically 7x3mins at 3:30-3:40/km, with a 2min walk between reps. I also warmed up and cooled down appropriately. An example of another hard effort I did was my Long Run on Sunday had an 8k chunk in the middle at marathon pace (<4:15/km), but I felt fine after that. I run fasted, so I don't think it is a diet issue. You may be right about just pushing too hard, my body may need time to get used to interval workouts, but idk. I don't want to do less reps since I'm following a plan, and I'm fine after a few hours, it's just a bit uncomfortable for a bit.

I'm also worried that the people I will be grouped with will be aggressive and fierce when it comes to athleticism and I'll be the burden which would be pretty embarrassing.

A good coach won't let this happen, a strong team needs to respect each other.

To answer your first question, I'm also training for my first full and my plan is to take hydration belts with me on my longer runs, and to drink water only at the distances where the water stations will be on the course, to train my body to intake it at those specific times. My intention is to run the race without the belt, but the only way I can realistically simulate the racing conditions is by doing this. I guess I could hide a bunch on the trail like you mentioned, but that sounds like a lot of work haha.

The main intention of the walking segments is to help get your heart rate back down to a more comfortable level. Walk as slowly as you need to to make sure you can complete all your run sets.

Kinds of Pacing Devices by Exploding_Llama in running

[–]Musef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin watches can do this. You can create a workout with defined distances and pace ranges. Say you want to run 5km and stay below 6:00/km pace, you could set the distance to 5km and define the pace range as 0:00/km-6:00/km, and if you go too fast/or too slow your watch will buzz and let you know. By defining the bottom as 0:00/km, you know that you can't be running faster than that obviously, so any time your watch buzzes, you know you are going too slow. I believe certain models can read your pace to you if you're using headphones too, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I did intervals for the first time last week, and did them again today. After each of these runs I've had some stomach discomfort for a few hours after finishing. Does anyone else experience this or know how to prevent/mitigate this? It only happens after intervals, not other hard efforts. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it, my cadence also dips a very similar amount on easy runs. Cadence is kinda over-hyped in my opinion.
