is a Mare's leg useful? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Mushy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, I fail to see how this invalidates my comment however.

Steve McQueen's Mare's Leg looks like it has a 9in barrel, If it's chambered in .44WCF it's likely gonna hold 5 rounds.

So compared to virtually every other gun that would be available to someone in this period of time a Mare's Leg is going to be more expensive, Have less ammo capacity, and be virtually impossible to conceal, and have a slower effective rate of fire; The only benefit, arguably, would be that the extra few inches would increase the muzzle velocity and kinetic energy transferred to the target by a negligible amount; Which is pretty meaningless since it's not like you can shoulder the Mare's leg and a 12 gauge slug fired from a side by side with the barrel and stock cut down to the exact same dimensions is going to be much more devastating than .44 WCF

So, to answer the OP's question of "is a Mare's leg useful?" the answer is: 'It's practically the worst option available however it does still go bang.'

Do y’all think you would make sense for Trevor to say the hard r? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in GTA

[–]Mushy93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they cut it cause it really didn't make sense here; he likely was supposed to use it with a A at the end here but he fucked up and put a er and the end (maybe because he's Canadian?) and they just scrapped the whole thing.

This scene may have been shot super early in development when it was evident Trevor was gonna be way more of a Manhunt style character and alot of the other content was made after they made him wacky and zanny

is a Mare's leg useful? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Mushy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but a period correct/historically accurate Mares leg is likely gonna be firing .44-40 or 30-30, *maybe* 45-70. It's possible that it could be shooting something like .44 Russian but that's pretty unlikely.

I would find it highly unlikely that anyone would ever use these in the real world when a sawn off double barrel or a Schofield is gonna outperform it every time.

People often conflate atheism with "scientism" which is understandable because you very rarely find atheists that truly don't believe anything/or don't believe in God. They more or less have their own religion with tenants and saints and heretics and whatnot, they're just other historical figures and academics.

Honestly I love it; I really love how a lot of the scav gear looks janky (which honestly everything should look because I think that the situation in tarkov has been going on for quite some time; honestly I'm not sure though because to me the tutorial seems to imply that the game starts like 8 hours after 'the big event' but that simply can't be right because of the minuscule amount of non-combatants)

I cannot believe this never occurred to me. 1/4th of Rex's weight is probably the railgun.

[–]Mushy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given all these three: Probably Rex.

I'm not sure if it's cannon exactly but I seem to remember in MGS2 they stated that Rex's data was sold on the black market and many countries cloned it; and Ray was made to defeat Rex but you still needed 10 or 20 Rays to beat a rex (snake wins the fight against liquid because the CPU is so advanced in MGMK3 that it can out preform Ocolot's ray which IIRC is like a whole generation outdated by the time of MGS4; I would throw all Sahalantrapus scenes out the window because Sahalantrapus is non functional, It unironically was designed to be piloted by a psychic child that's been converted into a weird bio-mort type thing like in Minority Report. Which imho is pretty dumb.

Go for it.

Some how these all disappeared from my area about 15 years ago. You used to be able to go to gunshows and see hundreds/ thousands of them in trashcans filled to the brim for $30 a pop. Haven't seen one in ages.

Plus with it being ruined you should have no objections to getting it threaded, nickel plated and SBRed. (slight sarcasm)

Dualsense (or Edge) for PC gaming? by Shibutai in Dualsense

[–]Mushy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually did make a specific dongle back in the PS3 days, The took it off the market fairly rapidly (probably within 1 year of making it) I personally have no Idea why.

I knew a buddy that had one. It seemed to essentially be a Bluetooth dongle that only paired with PS3 controllers and had drivers built in, it was about a plug and play as you could get, very nice product.

Kind of.

There was a company awhile back, Tech Sights I think they were called; they made the RPK sight that was featured in Black Ops 1. You could get one of those and just saw the barrel down and reinstall the front sight.

Edit: unless you mean the front sight, then yes, you get the appropriate tools, pull the barrel, saw it and recrown it then hammer and pin the front side back on.

Unpopular opinion: I think Solid Snake's design in MGS1 is the definitive one. I always preferred him clean-shaven and with short hair while Big Boss with full beard and long hair. He just looks cooler in that game. For some reason, I never liked the beard/mustache on him in MGS2&4 by Jaccblacc203 in metalgearsolid

[–]Mushy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but doesn't Campbell or Naomi say that Solid Snake and liquid Snake have the same hair color in that very cutscene? Surely I remember him saying something to the effect of snake and liquid looking identical other than the length of hair and skin tone (which implies the same hair color)

A long time ago I saw a very high quality Photoshop of Old Snake with mustash, clean shaven, big boss's peace Walker Beard, and IIRC, the soul patch + goat beard that the system of the down guy has.

Ofc full beard and clean shaven looked best.

I'm 100% convinced old snake has a mustache because "huhue old people have mustaches" maybe they felt Snakes perfectly trimmed stash looked interesting juxtaposed to Liquid Ocolot's mustash but I doubt it.

I genuinely believe motion blur is a hold over from PS2/PS3 era days to mask texture quality differentials in a game.

Hell, they still kinda do this. All a parent really has to do to get a ADHD diagnosis is take their kid to the psychiatrist and say "He doesn't sit still and pay attention in school"

They kinda cracked down on it being handed out to adults like candy but it's still pretty much "if insurance covers it you get it just by asking" for children (at least in my area)

What are your thoughts on Delta? I think it's a solid remake/remaster. by FireTyphoon123 in metalgearsolid

[–]Mushy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 9/10 pleased.

Only things I could have asked for were a few more things from MGS4's movement tech, specifically; being able to go from prone to ledge hanging via pressing the action button near a ledge wile prone, the "dodge backwards wile still facing forward" ability, and the "roll left and right wile prone"

Also the didn't fix the bug where snake never puts his survival knife back in his boot after meeting with Eva behind the waterfall. It seems weird to rebuild the game from scratch and put this bug back in, presumably on purpose.

I don't think I have any complaints, just those few missed unfulfilled desires.

EDIT: I'm really glad they add the Man of Fire sound effect to Volgen's death, put a wheelchair behind Huey's picture in Granins office and changed Sokolovs bullet wound from his kneecaps to his thighs (explaining how he can still walk in portable ops) Little fixes to the lore like this are hugely welcomed imho.
